I just took "Reel Trip" out for the first shake down since I did all the work on her.  Everything performed great!  The new kicker is a dream. Sooooooo...I'm ready to get schooled on how to catch springers! I'm willing to take someone out if they are willing to try and teach an old dog new tricks!   :arms:

Russ, get out of my secret spot!!!  And where is the handle of your net?!?!

Baywolf, I have this week off and plan on fishing at least a few days.  Let me know when you plan to be on the river, and we can at least buddy boat.

Weird way to run a net for sure and I never realized how short Russ' legs were either... [emoji79][emoji37][emoji12]
Still, he's caught more fish than I have so far this year...

Nice going, Russ!

The defiant look on your face would make for some interesting captions, like--"Who says I can't catch fish?"

The no handle net reminds me of a time when I was netting my wife's springer and the handle came off.  Fortunately her fish had a death wish or maybe felt sorry for me.

By the time I got the fish ready to go into the fish box, BBQ John had broken the net down and had the handle back in the rod holder (just next to the fish) and had his camera ready...  His boat, things are done his way...

I am so jealous of you guys getting to fish right now. We still have ice on many of our mountain lakes so we wait! My friends on Vancouver Island call the size of fish you guys are showing off sardines! On all my past trips up to the Island every time I came in from a day on the water with those size fish that is what I was met with! sardines LOL!
All we have in the freezer right now is store bought salmon, YUK! wish I was with you guys catching those sardines! Lucky buggers!

Ok there is only one more day to fish the Columbia. April 16. will be the last day out there. Then you are stuck on the Willamette the rest of the year for boat fishing . There is a bank only fishery above Bonneville dam though May 6.

Wet a line for the first time this springer season yesterday afternoon.
Fishing above I-205 on the WA side with a few other boats, did not have a touch for 3 rods.  Saw a couple fish caught, but was definitely slow.
Will be out there next Thursday with hopefully better results.

Vacation plans last week got sidetracked, but I did get out this weekend.  Skunked on the Columbia Saturday (one drive by on a Mag Lip that didn't stick, while anchored just above Kalama).  Hit Multnomah Channel and trolled herring today and picked up this cookie cutter... lost another at the net.

Here's one with my daughter, she helped hold the rod as I netted this one.  She's good for about 2-3 hours at best, so I was glad to get this one for her not long after we launched.  Missed one takedown 5 minutes in, and hit this one about 30 minutes later.

Nice work guys! Great picture Jeff...I bet she was excited holding that pole! I took my son out for a couple hours after work to try to scratch one more out but couldn't land one. Had one on and lost it but that was it. Back to kokanee now.

Careful Jeff, next thing you know she will turn into a teen-ager and you will be wondering where your little girl went...

Nicely done with the fish.

Congrats to all who caught fish the last several days of the springer season.

I wasn't so fortunate.  Went out yesterday above !-205 with a couple friends.  We saw fish caught upstream, downstream, and on each side of us, but we could only scratch out a couple takedowns.
