Has anybody been able to create a personal gallery or add pictures to a personal gallery from an IPhone?
I don't even see an option to finish step 2 or 3 of the instructions using my phone. I don't own or have access to a computer.
I use the super easy to use free iPhone app (Resize it)to reduce my pictures to 640-853. After resizing the photo, you save the new resized image back on to your phone. I then own that new resized picture and without any worry that they might want the rights back in the future. I then post the picture from my personal photos on my phone to the group. If anybody has any suggestions how I can setup personal gallery on my iPhone I'd appreciate it. Thanks

There are multiple ways of working with a phone or tablet here. Using Safari or your phone's web browser would be just like using a PC. In that case, the photo can be pulled from the AO gallery, your phone's photo directory or from a third party service like Photobucket.

I use Tapatalk when on my iPhone or iPad but I'm not sure if Tapatalk hosts the photo similar to Photobucket or if the image is uploaded to ArimaOwners. I may have to look at this closer.

There is also the attachment feature here on AO but I'll have to go back and look how that works.

Are you still selling the floating key fobs to raise funds for the site? If so I'll take one

Yes. PM sent. I am way behind on some requests for this because of my work and family responsibilities.

I remember paying for the software gallery when we started this site. Are we still using what was paid for or do we need to upgrade again?

Darren

Largely through your donation as I remember correctly. That is the software we continue to use. There have been upgrades since that I have not purchased. I am not a complete computer geek so upgrades make me nervous. I try to keep them to the minimum. Plus, some of the upgrades are for forum sites with much different needs than what we have here. Add that to the issue of teaching our old dogs new tricks and I tend to be conservative with changes.

Upgrade the system so it auto resizes pictures or allows pictures of any size to be posted

All my posts have no pictures now Bc I was forced to use crap bucket which charges now.

Seeing what happened to your posts is exactly what brought this up. It's a shame to see the useful information lost. I want to fix this but in a way that won't piss too many people off. Using the Gallery isn't the easiest so many have chosen other routes to posting pictures. If I shut down those methods, I'll make some unhappy. If we make the changes, I hope they'll understand why.

Or you could figure out how to do this.  You may not have noticed, but there are no ads, or charges to the membership to use this site.  Upgrades often cost $$$.  We run from sales of stuff like caps, key chains and a couple of generous donations from things like Woody's estate...

We have never 'forced' anyone to use any particular method to post pictures.  The system that is in place now, has been in place since we initiated this site in Jan. 2011.  Please note the date of the post explaining how to use our system http://www.arimaowners.com/index.php?topic=130.0 .  Fishing eagle made that post soon after we initiated the site.  It seems to have worked well since...

Fishing Eagle's tutorial has been a big help but since some still have problems, maybe I need to go look at that tutorial and see if it can be improved to provide additional clarity.

One program I use to resize pictures on my PC is a freeware program called irfanview ( http://www.irfanview.com ) that I've used for years. It's simple to use and has 1 touch preset sizes to choose from. You can do some other things like cropping, and basic editing with it to. It's a small program so doesn't take a lot of space.

From my iPhone or iPad I send the picture to my email which gives me the option to resize before I send it. From my email I save the downsized image to my photo library on my device. It works, but image quality is not very good. I really don't even use my laptop anymore

I use my email on the phone to compress and at time there is a free app called photo compress that is easy to use.

If you need donations let me know or I can always use more key chains or Arimaowners.com stickers.

As one who posts Lots of pictures- I've got three pics in my gallery and have often been stymied trying to find gallery pics others say are there.
Mark me as concerned.

Bandaid talked me into an I Phone-  I'll see how that works soon.

I've been using tapatalk to post pics for a few years here, just attach pics from my phone directly to the post- one step.  However, I don't know if the pics are now residents of our software or if they are somehow linked to tapatalk thus at risk of loss in the future...

Sometimes folks post pictures in the "Gallery" instead of the "My Gallery".

Eric, It's not that difficult. Even at my ripe old age I was able to figure it out. I've been burned before by Photobucket like tactics. Just upload the photos to your personal Gallery. Then copy and paste the link. Easy Peezy.

Or....resize the pics to 640 and use the attachment function.   :shrug9:

I'd never sell my Arima because of a photo sizing issue.  I'd just have the same problem with a different brand boat, I'd guess :shrug9:

Since the photo-bucket fiasco, and some of the challenges with using Google photos to share stuff, I've been using my Arima gallery this way already.

Dan, is there any issue with storage and bandwidth fees?

I was worried when I first created this forum but after 7 years, I haven't run into any problems and if we get short on space, I'll just buy more space.

7 Years!

I found that I am using just 6 GB of an allotted 100 GB. It may take another 20 years to get up to the limit!

Hey Danno,

There was a question earlier about the orientation of photos, sideways, upside down. I've had occasion to post pictures recently and have tried to use the "rotate" option on the Edit Image page. Doesn't seem to work. I've noticed other members with the same issue. Any insight?

Hold the camera right side up?

That one is above my pay grade   :stooges:

I'll see if the SMF team can help with that one although I'm thinking of upgrading the Gallery software so I may wait a bit.
