My hatch has been leaking for a while every time water hits the top of the boat, especially when washing. Has anyone tried removing and rehabing the original to seal it back up? It's never been a major issue, but its' time has come on the list of to-dos.

I can buy a new Lewmar size 44 for $400, should I just bite the bullet and go with new? Darius used the 44 when his broke a while back, so the size seems right.

I took mine off last year and redid the gasket with some of that Permatex create a gasket stuff from a tube.  So far so good, no leaks.

If going to buy a new one make sure the opening is the same. If not you will have to cut to fit.  They're all a little different. Changed mine for same size hatch but opening needed was a little bigger than my old one.  So I had to jig saw a little to get new one to fit.  Din't want fiberglass everywhere so I had to prop a cardboard box under to catch all the dust.
