Getting this out there in case it hasn't been initiated.  Too many unread threads to get thru quickly.  Halibut season is coming to WA followed by Salmon

Always a good time to see old friends and meet some new ones.  Whatcha think??

That's what I said three years ago---    then proceeded to lose two 15# DR balls.

Lost two last year also.....  I plan to pour some  more- and I'll bring a Lot of stuff that needs a home.  If you're thinking about TuNA -- see me first or message if you want an early start

Lead wheel weights haven't been used for several years-- be careful- No contaminants in the melt pots

Let's stir up some  interest folks.  We've had it at several different AO members over the year and it's always been a positive event.

Don't have much lead left.  Most of the "stash" that I had got melted down this winter when my neighbor got a DR ball mold and let me borrow it.

Sounds like a fun time though.  It would depend on the location.  I'm kinda "out there" a bit.

Greg, I would be interested in a lead pour, I still have close to 100# of lead.

I'd be in for pouring some more downrigger balls. Happy to bring a cooker (no melting pot) and propane along with a few extra pounds of lead.

I have some lead and need a 15 Ilb ball.  I can probably have it at my place again, but need to talk to my wife and look at some dates.  Might not make it before Halibut starts.

Sorry for that Joe- you have a great set up.

OK folks round two-
Still need a host, a date, and some molds besides the 2 & 3# cod weights I'll bring.

Step right up

I wouldn't mind the idea of hosting this sort of event.  But, I'm probably too far out of the way for most of you.  I also don't really have much to offer in regards to equipment.  I've still got a little bit of lead left (probably less than 10 lbs.).

The best I can do for equipment is a Coleman stove with a couple of tin cans for melting (not very efficient).  I might be able to borrow my neighbor's mold.  But, it's a 12 lb'er.  If someone has the gear, but not the place, then possibilities open up.  Of course, my location is still likely the "deal breaker" here.

I like the idea and it seems like a fun time.  But, the obstacles would need to be overcome.

MT Vernon is close enough for me... I'm short on lead but have 8 (Kokanee), 10 and 12 pound moulds with eyes on-hand. I have a burner, ladle and pot... flux and various tools to skim... I could almost host but I don't have a 15lb mould so I might be disqualified... For those of us plunking the river, I also have triangle moulds...

Would love to know if anyone has 1, 2 or three pound moulds for halibut...

Thinking further... ideally, we could find a central location to get together but it seems challenging. That said, I wonder if the group should/would consider a North/South pour event to make this thing easier for those that wouldn't be interested in long travel. Maybe stagger dates so we could attend either for those interested in either?

Maybe Fishmeister and I could coordinate a date and location for North (that anyone could attend)?

I would like to attend a north lead pour. I have a little bit of lead (some 15# finned DR balls that track really poorly) and a very little knowledge about the process. I can provide a few tanks of propane, beverages and a good attitude. Mount Vernon isn't too far.

Really hope we can work this out.  I don't do lead, but it usually tends to be a swap-meet situation too.  Great fun to meet some of the Arimaowners in person, plus swap some gear (and some tall stories as well).  This crew was 2 years ago at Shawn's place.lead pour.jpg

 :yeahthat:
That was a good group- worked well together and got lots of lead poured.  Mark with his grin is right in the center.  Gonna miss him.

I haven't heard from Shawn WeDoCQ.

Remaining hopeful.....    :anyone:
