I don't know.....I guess I may have too much time on my hands; waiting for "Kiwi" to arrive.  Anyway, I bought one of these QWORK quick connect brake safety cables for my aluminum dump trailer.  Just had a new brake battery box and switch installed. The last breakaway cable didn't last, so I thought this might be a good alternative. About $7 bucks on Amazon. Am I stupid.......or what?  :shrug9: Looks nice.

My Pacific trailer came with coiled cables instead of safety chains.

Although I have never tried a coiled brake cable, I would probably prefer the old fashioned  brake cable that I am used to as well.

Guess I am stuck in my old ways.  :shrug9:

Croaker, thanks for that.  Looking back, I guess the two points that interested me in this cable was how it recoils when not in use. No having to coil that "standard" cable.    The second is simply how easy that little carabiner might work when connecting to the truck.  :shrug9:  I suppose I could have simply added the carabiner to the factory cable. In any event, for $7, if it fails, the result would be only a "small" ass kick.  :jester:

I don't think it will fail while you are sitting in your lawn chair sipping your Gray Goose on the rocks while admiring your new boat.

The carabiner is a "must"👍🏻

Croaker............you (obviously) know waaaay too much about my potential future boating habits.  Now people may finally come to know why I keep suggesting how much "easier" this boat will be to maintain.  :jester:

Thanks for posting this Yat. Reminded me that I needed one. Amazon is our friend for sure..... Haven't had one on the trailer for a while. Brakes didn't work. Got them all fixed up so should fix the breakaway cable.

You're welcome.  Looks cool. Moreover (IMO), how easy it is to hook to the truck is worth the price. Have fun.

My parents new rv trailer came with that type of cable. Seems convenient.

I've used that type of cable for several years on my boat trailers.  Works well and easy.  Not sure why I haven't swapped out the cable on my rv trailer so another small project.
