I think Shinna and I are at the point we can start looking for a kicker.  From all the great advice from the board, I've narrowed it down to:

A Honda 9.9 extra long shaft, with electric start and power tilt and trim.

A Yamaha 9.9 "" ""

Please keep your eye's and ears open for us.  If you find one that sounds like a great deal, please let me know.

We prefer to buy from a board member or a shop. I know that some great deals can be had on Craigslist, but....

As always...thanks a million!

I know of a board member with a really low-hours Suzuki 9.9 I think he'd part-with. It's four years old +/-, with probably less than 5 hours use, been garaged ever-since.

I went with a Suzuki 9.9 4 stroke ls,es,rc,pt,efi,ht #df9.9btl. Got rid of
the carb problems from the {water fuel} we have now . I got the motor closer
to the back the stern.
Runs sweet.

Might I suggest a T8 as well? Also, do yourself a huge favor. Get power tilt and trim. We are getting too old to be manhandling these things. Trust me, it's definitely worth the extra money!

Yup, power tilt and elec. start are a must.  I'll check out the T-8 too.  Do you think it will push a 19SR?

A T-8 is pushing my 19SC very nicely.  You should have not problem with a 19SR.  It should handle a 21 nicely.  They are very powerful and efficient motors.

Perry,
I have the T8 as well. They did stop production of them a few years ago, but you can still get the Yamaha 8hp new, and add a higher thrust prop.

And I don't know why you don't want to buy from Craigslist. Those tweakers come up with some very nice equipment.

Baywolf,
I just purchased a brand new 2014 25" Honda BFP8DK3LRT remote, power tilt "shipped here to the house" from Cumberland Watersprorts Inc in Georgia for $2607. it included the remote and a 3 gallon gas tank with hose and mounting hardware. Hard to beat that deal.

It never really dawned on me until much later that I might have helped this guy steal a motor off of someone's boat!

Fat Tug, have you put many hours on the motor yet? A  lot of us are looking at those EFIs, and wondering how they are performing.

Ran it on the hose for 10 min. Just set there and ticked away
The water here is hard. Sure nice with the estrat & tilt It also has a hand
pull and needs no battery to start ++++. Mine's remote which came with and
the wire harness &gas can & high thrust.
The control cables tuck in the well when tilted up and ride a cap deck 1/2" high.
