Since we been whipping this, it got me  thinking. (something that usually makes me fall asleep)  What is the history of the name "Arima" anyway?  Is it's origins in the Basque language? Or an anagram for ramia(n) with the wave as a hint?Or, maybe this?
Admiral Arima Ryōkitsu (有馬 良橘?, December 16, 1861 – May 1, 1944) was a career naval officer in the Imperial Japanese Navy during Meiji and Taishō periods.

Here you go Bay Wolf:

Company founder Juichi Arima is a recognized expert in hull design, but unlike some designers, he uses the boats he builds. He is a sport angler who makes regular salmon fishing trips throughout the inside waters of Puget Sound, the Strait of Juan de Fuca and out on the open ocean, all in Arima boats, of course.

The name is Japanese (Mr. Arima's ancestry).  The articles above give a good overview of the original philosophy behind the boats -- safe, economical, tough, and very fish-able.  I believe he moved to Hawaii and semi-retired a good while back, with Don Gross running the show on boat production (but Mr. Arima retained ownership).

For those that do not know, Arima went under during the recession.  Bo Palmer and Defiance bought the molds and brand from Mr. Arima, and re-hired many of the staff (including Don and Belinda).

Ummmm. I can't find any reference to the word in Japanese except about the admiral.  Is there any history about why he chose the name and what meaning it had to him?

His last name is "Arima"... the boat brand carries his name (Juichi is his first name).

Great updates on the history of Arima. Don is the only owner / user of an Arima at Arima. He has a nice 21' Ht. I think chief of boats might still be working the inside shop at Arima but that is only until recently. I think Don told me he met Mr Arima at the University of Washington back in the day, 1980's and they were together until the change of ownership.

OH BOY...I SURE FEEL DUMB!

Somehow I kept reading his name as Mr. Juichi (as a last name)...  thus the redundant and, I'm sure, annoying question about the name.

Thanks guys for not starting your reply with: "Hey Stupid!"

Let us bring this thread to a close.

The varying views of the current logo have been expressed.  Discussing this further will not be any more beneficial than beating on a dead horse.

It is consensus of the moderators further beating of that horse will simply be divisive to the site.
