Mounting a Puller (crab/shrimp)
« on: July 09, 2011, 10:10:34 AM »
I have a typical crab davit mounted to the floor with side support. Have acquired an electric motor (see my galley) that is an easy one hole drill with pin to mount to the davit pole. Not an ACE Hauler or similar puller.

I've seen the motor mounted at gunwale level and also medium level about one foot up the pole. It could also be a maximum of 2 feet from the gunwale.

Since you want to exert a downward pull through the motor, higher seems better as long as you can easily double wrap your line on the pulley.

What is your experience and advice?
