Would you please post pics here of very nice wiring installations here?  I'm looking for something to emulate.
Thanks!

With Shaun's help, that could be the Assisted Twister.

As Dave Barry might say "sounds like a good name for a rock band. "

Or an Arima.  Now where did I put that Rim Shot Emoticon? :nono:

Very creative with the placements and nice, logical array!

Anyone else have something to show?  I'm looking for ideas for how to set mine up in the new to  me 21.

Please tell me that you've got covers for all those exposed terminals and AGC fuse panels...?

Yes. All is covered when when the cabinet is closed. Is that not sufficient?

No, I'm sorry to say it isn't... All positive terminals or exposed buss bars must be covered. Are those marine fuse panels? I've never seen any like that before.

Rick,
Ok. I guess I have a do over. I did buy the fuse blocks at Fisheries Supply for marine use. Then the 6 position uncovered fuse block that I was replacing by Arima also was also not up to standard.

I don't understand how every positive terminal can be covered. For example my tack has + - studs for the light what would be the pro solution to cover that, lugs tightened with a nut? Another thing would be terminal boards they all need to be covered?  :shrug9:

Thanks for all the help.

Thanks for the pics-  I'm interested in how the wires are organized (rather than the engineering) and both of yours look cool.

I'd still like to see other layouts!

I'm not sure I understand some of your question and I won't comment on the supplier you bought the products from as I have no knowledge of them. I do know that most suppliers will sell you what you ask for and 'may' be able to advise as to the acceptability of one product over another... I've also found that as the proliferation of 'Internet shopping' has increased exponentially, the knowledge levels at 'brick & mortar' establishments has decreased. Having said all that, I do know that the Blue Sea products ARE built to comply with the ABYC  standards and I've found that several other mfg products (SeaDog being one and Arima 'used' to use then!) aren't (at least not without additional modifications. Some people don't care if it's compliant or not, others do. I can see that you put a lot of time and effort into laying out your wiring and it's very nice  and neat. You might be able to get these panels to fit right into the spaces of the ones you used and not have too many wires and Ty-raps to move...

Send me a PM and maybe I can help you some more...

Rick,
I try to follow these posts on wiring closely, and attempt to soak up as much info from you as I can. The problem is you are too nice.  You try and tell somebody they didn't do it quite right in a series of back and forth posts and in the end, I am totally lost. So do you think in the future, if you see something that is wrong, or not quite right, can you just tell us what we did wrong? And most importantly for me, why.  If I can understand why, I have a much greater chance of remembering.

So lets take Diablo here. You could have said, "Those terminals need to be covered per ABYC code and the reason is _____" And don't worry, as our in house 12v tech, our moderators have a nice weekly salary waiting for you.

I have been found guilty of not covering some of my positive terminals on last years rewire. I cut some clear plastic last year that's still sitting on my  work bench. I need to get my butt in gear and install them. I wondering why Blue Seas didn't provide a cover for the 5/16 posts on the SH 100?

Tony, Blue Sea does make  stud insulator caps, you have to buy them separate as it's based on the size of conductor installed. There is such a wide range of amperage/conductor sizes for those 3 stud terminals on the SH100 (and similar panels) they couldn't provide the correct ones for you. I've bought the insulator caps  for mine in a three pack, PERFECT!

Ummmm...I still don't know WHY??? I am guessing to prevent accidental shorts? If that's the case, why does the Blue Sea common bus bar have a cover? (and it aint cheap!) If your fuse panels are inside an enclosed area, why is that not enough? Confused.  :shrug9:

Shawn & Russ, as to your question about how you'd like me to formulate my technical responses? Are you guys NUTZZZZZ? I've tried that, and unlike that guy from 3wgt Steve's post... "Don't put your hand in there!"

That ain't happening again...

Hey --- I only said I wasn't going to pay you....  Go pick on Shawn---

Shawn, You will seldom short if you cannot get from positive to negative.  The positive will short much easier than negative, at least in my experience.  Cover the positives and exposed negatives don't matter so much.  Better to cover both, and while I could not get a rise from Rick, don't use duct tape.  Some of it will conduct electricity.

Shawn I think Rick goes on the assumption if it can happen it will and I do agree with that 100% Working on flying machines all my life boats are no different they move they bounce they bump and things get loose and all you need is something to fall on a hot wire or a a ground come loose and rest on a hot. Life will get real exciting or short from that point on.
