Have you checked on this one? https://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/fod/d/olympia-1986-arima-16-with-2000-suzuki/7726894069.html

Some early Suzuki 4-strokes had corrosion issues. Not sure if this one falls in that time frame.

Yes, it would be 13.5k after tax and licensing. I told them I would take it for 10k out the door. that's to much for a boat without a kicker and downriggers, depth finder is outdated and the boat needs new bottom paint. they said no

Is that boat at Verle's? And I agree, seems overpriced.

I'd tend to agree.  10K is probably fair.  Above that ???

The boat looks to be in pretty decent shape, overall.  But there is a lot of "updating" that probably needs to be done. (VHF looks pretty old too.)  Guessing that the wiring could stand a "run-through" too.

I am a huge fan of the explorer. Something to remember is in 1994 it was updated. The change was for the better for the explorer. Not that the earlier model was bad. But the updated version was a significant design  improvement.

personally, I would suggest doing more research if you want "any year 1511 explorer" because there's  2 different 1511 explorers, that have 2 very different designs, and its based on the year.  if you already know that and are okay with that then that's cool, but the extra beam, walkaround, and gas capacity is a pretty significant change imo

I've done my research and any year explorer still fit my need. Looking for the explorer because I use the point defiance boat house in tacoma.the explorer fits in the boathouse elevator and still has a cuddy big enough for my wife and baby to take a nap in.

Sounds like you do know exactly what you want.  Hang in there.  The right boat (at the right price) will come along.

Hey Rowland: Out of curiosity, I did a brief search a while ago and was actually surprised at how rare these used Explorers seem to be. Getting a new one would, obviously, be out of the question, as Defiance doesn't seem to be interested in building any of the smaller Arimas.  That aside, I'm not sure if paying the freight to ship one from the East Coast is feasible for you, but I'll keep my eyes open anyway.  Good luck with the search.

they are definitely rare to find for sale, and even talked-about! Lots of sea hunters and sea chaser. People just want to hold on to the explorers it seems like. I fish mainly in the south puget sound in Washington state and the sea explorer is perfect for my use. And I use the point defiance boat house witch is indoor dry storage and the explorer would fit perfectly!

CB makes sense.

The changes in years seem small but are big. The 48 gal fuel cell, and reverse chines and other goodies on the 19s after year change makes big differences my your day.

Best of luck. You'll be floating soon enough.  :beerchug:

That's a pretty new Merc 60.  Same model number that I have, except mine does not end in "CT".  Has a sticker warning about prop selection that is not on mine.  I have to assume this is the Command Thrust version.  That motor should move the boat quite nicely.

The boat looks like it could use a little work (don't they all?) and you would have to take a road trip to get it.  But, at least you wouldn't be looking at a re-power in your near future.

If that motor is that new, it's almost worth the asking price by itself.

Call it a suggestion, but do you suppose negotiating to meet halfway could be just enough of an incentive to make a long-distance sale such as this, feasible? :shrug9:
