best way to remove 1984 Sr 17 windshield? Prep for hard top project

 Hello,

 I have seen about  50 plus different type of SR/SC 17-19  hardtop built. but no one  post pic  of removing the oem windshield.

I am about ready to enter this upgrade. But not sure  what is the best way to take out the old  oem crusty windshield without destroying it. Can someone please  share their experience along with some pics ..where are the screws that hold the old windshield?

the only way i know is to just take the rubber strip off from the outside and remove the 4 or 6 screws. not a lot to it

As Christian says, there isn't a lot to it. Each section of the windshield has several screws underneath the rubber protective cover. Of course, you also need to unscrew the struts in the front. The rubber seals underneath probably have some light adhesion to the fiberglass, but should peel off easily, a plastic putty knife may help.

The windshield easily disassembles into 4 main pieces. the sides slide onto channels on the outboard edges of the port/starboard front windows. Don't bother removing the hinge pin connecting the center window.
