Bara, Baracuda for lunch.

I think it's under size!

Looks like a Needlefish. I used to catch them as a kid in the warm water of the power generating plant in Seal Beach.

Beautiful bird.

Not my photo but clipped from the Nextdoor app. Interesting that the author identified the fish as a barracuda but after Croaker's comment and a closer look, I'll defer to his experience.

They both can catch fish, but I don't think that bird's wings are big enough to take me out very far.

Martin, have you seen the Osprey nest at the Sunset Aquatic launch ramp? For the last couple of years I have watched a mating pair raise several chicks.

Fun to watch the male guarding the nest and fetching food while the female keeps the young ones warm. I saw him once bring a small halibut to the nest. There is usually a photographer or two standing by with huge telephoto lenses.

Pretty cool. When I worked near Marina Del Rey the business I worked for was near Ballona creek and out back there was an Osprey nest. I always enjoyed walking out back to see them on breaks.
Up the San Gabriel river there's an area we stop for a bit to see the Bald Eagle's, cool to see these birds.

Just for reference, here is a better picture of a needlefish that I found on Instagram.

Croaker:  I have to say, that's a great pic of a Needle fish.  Not only that, it's also "proof-positive" that you're obviously still "alive and well".  Oh...and Croaker, just remember, if your wife catches you posting pics like that, just tell her, the day you 'stop' is the day she wants to start worrying.  :jester:

Where's the fish in this pic?  I keep staring at it, but cannot seem to focus on a fish.   :jester:
