One of the new features in the SMF 2.1.3 forum software is the imbedded attachment feature. You can drag and drop you photo, PDF or file into the attachments field then click UPLOAD and it will provide some data to help you understand how many uploads you can do per post and what size. You can also adjust the visible size (not the image data size). Try it out!

So there are now two ways to post a photo or video. Attached, or embedded. (I think it is "upload" or "insert"?)
What is the difference? Is there an advantage to one over the other?

Not sure if I'm doing this wrong, but when I upload a picture, it duplicates on the post?
What I do is Add File - (new window opens) Add File (again) - pick my photo -  Upload - Insert - Preview.

When I preview I see 1 photo, but when I post there's 2.

What I then end up doing is removing the inserted link in the post to only have 1 picture.

Am I supposed to just click "upload" and not "insert" ?

When you upload it it goes tot he attachments on the bottom, when you insert it it goes to the body. you cannot insert without attaching, so anytime you use the insert feature, it will duplicate the pic...

Test (upload, then insert)

Looks like "upload-insert" is best for a video.

But why is it all black? Shouldn't there be an image of the first frame ?

None of my iphone videos are 10,000 KB.

Now it says restricted to 9.77MB. Still too small to fit a 3 second video.

Croaker is correct: If you use the REPLY button, add an attachment, upload it, and insert it, it will put one copy in the reply body and one below the attchement line.

If you do not insert, it will put one only below the attachment line. The photo below shows the picture in the body as well as below the attachment line.

I'll have to look and see if there's a setting to turn off attachment photos below the line if there's a photo inserted into the reply area above.

Test after fixing attachment options in settings. You shouldn't see any more duplicates. I thought I had already made that change.

Apparently there's no difference between photos and videos on file size. This opens a can of worms in trying to keep photo file size and memory space in check. We'll see how this goes.

I'll certainly appreciate using YouTube to post new videos as the carry the memory load. You cannot view this attachment.
