I have a 1993 SC 16  with a F60hp 2013 Yamaha.   wondering what size props others are using and what top speed and getting up on step speed you are getting with 2 guys 400lbs.  I have 11 3/8  12 pitch prop.  top speed 23 mph gps. 5500 rpm whale tail and trim tabs.

I would first try without the whale tail. I don't like the idea of having both whale tail and trim tabs. Too much drag. One or the other. My 2c.

 :yeahthat:

I have a SC16 with a 60hp 4 stroke Suzuki with trim tabs and I've experimented with 3 and 4 blades.
My experience, I ended up taking my 4 blade 13.25 x 13 prop and getting it detuned down to a 12" pitch prop ($80). Doing that made my boat run great with a my top end just shy at 30mph (29.8) WOT @ 5,600 rpm on flat ocean conditions (by myself) with a full 28 gallon bait tank. Prior I was getting 23 to 25 mph WOT.

what year suzuki-  suzuki changed gear ratio in their lower units to be different than the Yamaha's to improve performance and it did. I will also try removing the whale and see if it helps top speed.  adding it seem to help getting on step quicker.  but the right prop might fix that. thanks for the feed back.
