I have a son in law who likes vintage tools.
I've been out garage selling to find him some old tools for Christmas.
I came across this item for a dollar.
Can anybody identify it for me.
I think it's a wood working tool.

Hunter

My guess is that it is some kind of chainsaw milling tool....

A friend of mine thinks it was for making bead board

I dont think it is a tool. More like an adjustble gauge of some sort to set up a tool.

I'd rather be drinking in a bar wishing I was on the ocean, than be on the ocean wishing I was in a bar.

Hmmm similar to a knife setting gauge for a jointer or molder ?

It's 7 inches between the two outer fingers.
The attached bar with the three screws that allow the bar to adjust appears to me to be a blade.
The points appear to be sharpened.
I'm not sure what the two holes are used for.
I asked two of the oldest guys I know that both did a lot of wood working.
One guy thought it was for scraping boards to make bead board.
The other guy thought it was for shaping grooves into shingles for decoration.

Looks like it says something there next to the middle screws. Look carefully for any identifying marks.

Might be a scraper for carving flutes. ?

I looked really good for Mark's.
I can't see anything.
This might be the best dollar I ever spent.
I think it's diffidently a scraper of some kind.
My first thought was a scrapper for peeling chittum bark.
