Kicker for sale?
« on: September 15, 2020, 03:40:22 PM »
Hi does anyone have a 4 stroke Honda, Yamaha, Mercury or tohatsu long shaft kicker that is around 8 or 9.9 HP for sale?? Also has anyone ever used a short shaft on a 15 foot sea hunter?? Thank you!

I JUST took my super running 1991 Evinrude 15hp off my 15' Hunter and replaced it w/a 1984 Johnson 6hp longshaft (color matches the main!) so yes, with an adjustable mount I was able to make it work. I got a deal on the 6hp, and this lets me keep my Gregor ready for the river

My Sea Hunter has a 20" transom.  The 15" short shaft might work OK on a calm water situation, but might not be long enough to prevent cavitation problems under wavy conditions. IMO, it's not worth the risk of burning out a motor from lack of inadequate cooling when a long shaft motor sells for the same price.
