Thanks Chief!  Dang, the 21' SR HT with a 150 gets about double the fuel economy and burns about half the fuel of what the 22' SL HT does.  Somewhat apples to oranges as the SL is a bigger, heavier boat and with a bigger motor but interesting comparison of numbers that's for sure.
That’s interesting math!

mustang65fbk,
Here you go:

Don't think i ever saw 5 mpg at any speed on my 21 SR HT with a E150 efi
usually about 3 to 4 at best even at 3500 to 4000 rpm on a flat Bay

I'm sure those are in optimal conditions such as it being calm and only having 11 gallons of fuel in the tank with little other equipment, gear and other persons on board.

I have a 21 with 150/8 yam. Full fuel, fish gear, beer, ice, 2 pax I get around 3.5 mpg 3600 rpm/22 mph cruise with a 3 blade yam alum prop. Thats on a calm sea no wind. If I did it on a flat calm lake bare bones empty and stripped of radar and rocket holders etc for less wind drag then I would expect 4 mpg.

The bf150 has less cubes so would expect it to be a bit more economical.

I take back what I said, what I meant by double the fuel economy would be correlated to the miles per gallon whereas burning half the fuel would be correlated to gallons burned per hour.  Also, per the two charts given, a 21' SR HT with a 150 and a 22' SL HT with a 250, you can have one without the other.  A good example of this would be one the two charts at the 3,000 rpm range.  On a 21' SR HT you burn 2.9 gph and get 4.7 mpg whereas the 22' SL HT you burn 6.1 gph and get 2.5 mpg.  If you do gph first you'd have 2.9 divided by 6.1 and get a difference of .475, or just under half.  Whereas if you do mpgs next and divide 2.5 by 4.7 you'll get .532 , or just over half.  The biggest difference between the two appears to be around the 4,500 rpm range where the gph is at 5.9 and 12.7 for each boat whereas the mpg is 4.4 and 2.6.  So dividing 5.9 by 12.7 is at .465 and the mpg is 2.6 divided by 4.4 or .591.  This is where the numbers are the furthest apart from one another and where the gph is almost double yet the mpg simply is not.

WOW!   I had to read that very carefully...…….about three times, but I think it makes sense.   Following that, all I can do is reiterate what professor Terguson said:   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KgAilTTZnQ   Ha

What you mean?  engine too heavy for that boat? its a great engine. I had same one same year.

Yep... I also had a 250 on my SL.. and it was perfect.  No issues with the weight.    I'd say that anywhere between 225 and 250 is the right HP for these SL 22's.

Well as another member mentioned, I think we've all had a bit of time to sit at home and do nothing.  That was me last night, doing calculations on my phone.  Raging Saturday night! haha
