Looking to buy a 1990 sea ranger 19 but owner doesn’t know fuel gallon capacity on this year boat because it was her husband. Can anyone enlighten me?

48. As far as I know all the 19s were 48. You probably won't get the entire 48 in because of the sides sort of sagging over the years but the factory capacity is 48.

Just a minor adjustment. At least the 1989 19 SR had a ~30 gallon tank. Lucky me...I believe it did become 48g in 1990 The 30 is cube shaped and the 48 has a “lump” at the top, from what I’ve seen. I have seen pricing from $750 to $1k for a new tank from Defiance, if they are still available aftermarket. Congrats!!

Was that from the factory or did maybe a previous owner install that for some reason? The 89 Rangers (19) were the first year for that boat, maybe they did start with the 30 gal tank. Mine is a 91 and it has the 48.

Here is link to a thread that help me determine my fuel tank size. My tank looks like the one in the pictures at 32g. I think it may have only been in 89 with that size, so, for the purposes of this thread, your most likely 48g. Wanna trade???  :jester:

While I would like that Suzi, I'm committed to my boat now. It's like changing lanes at the grocery store... Could see enjoying 50% more range.

I honestly haven't even been though a full tank in the 4 times I've been out, so I'll see how the 32 does me before I shell out for the larger tank.

Unless you are doing some major long hauls or offshore runs for tuna, 32 isn't under sized for a 19SR.  May actually be a benefit during winter months when you are supposed to keep tank full to minimize condensation in tank.  When out on the water during winter months, 15 less gallons of fuel to lug around near the transom will be a much nicer ride especially if you are loaded up with prawn/crab trap, leaded line and other gear.  If you also have a kicker back there, makes for a very ass heavy setup.

After looking at the linked posted by  B-TownRanger.  I dont have the 47 gallon but  the 32 gallon tank that the previous owner did say they switched out, to make room for hydraulic power unit pump and the thru hull pump that both  sits on top of the fuel tank. Im in socal, so im planning to take this out to Catalina island, all the way out to San Clemente Island to fish for BFT. Probably going to carry extra fuel just incase for my first run out there.

My previous 19 tank and the 5 gallon fill marks.  Notice at 44.5 the bubble is at the filler
