Going to use Kodak  again a lot of boat captains know us by that name with the Osprey.  Trying to find a vinyl lettering source.   :anyone:

I have used Fastsigns in Silverdale for "loves whitecaps" and Coast Guard numbers.  Their prices and quality is very good.

I had good luck with the vinyl lettering I got from Boat US.  Easy to apply and they included an extra set when I re did my CF numbers (3 total) in case you mess one up on install.  Lots of fonts, colors, sizes and shading/border options as well as slants.  You can select CF numbers, homeport or boat name at the start of the process.

+1 on BoatUS. They did my numbers and the price was hard to beat. I ended up going with a local outfit (minuteman press) for the name since I wanted to control the spacing and provide them with a vector graphic.

I can highly recommend  boatdecals.biz.   I wanted something different than the standard blue Arima logo, also a combination of flat and domed letters.  They have lots of typefaces and colors, and you can design and view your lettering on their website.  Quality was really good, quick shipping.

Similar to this thread, while we are on the topic of decals, I would like to redo the blue striping with black, has anyone purchased a boat striping kit , either straight from arima or aftermarket?

Svinny, Arima stopped doing stripes after Defiance absorbed them

Thanks for the input guys.  We have a Boat US membership that gives us %10 discount.  Order will be finalized tomorrow

Svinny:   Remove the old striping, buff the gelcoat, and see how it looks to you plain - I like mine better without.  If you do restripe, don't go cheap, use 3M Scotchcal, Trim-Brite, or Oracal.

I agree with the removal of the stripe and then buffing.  I think it makes the boat look newer and more updated.   Here's a before and after of our 2001 SL22.   I also agree that Boat US is a great option for name and number graphics...

I will nominate Bill Mann at Vinyl GraphicWorks (www.vinylgraphicworks.com). He did the ArimaOwners.com decals. Great followup and pricing.

Sorry, but I like the striping.  Boats need "bling".  IMHO, just a little too "Spartan" without it......sorta like a lally column.  Ha

Called Boat US to update email addy- They have completed my order and ship it today.  I placed the order about 11 last night.  Wow

3M makes a wheel that strips stripes and decals quite well.  Several threads on here about it.

Greg, just my two bits as a superstitious salt....
Be sure to do a proper release of the previous name and proper rename ceremony.  Many tales of severe misfortunes to befall those who have failed to do so.  The Late Great Harrell Kimball sent me a link many years ago about 'the proper' way to go about these things.  Actually just performed them both this last week on my 'new' 19 SR.
If you are interested, I can dig up the link.

If you're thinking along the lines of movie titles, how about one of these:

"Northwest Passage" or "North by Northwest"?

Getting away from movies; here's a few more:

      "Legendary"

      "Legend in Time"

Or,  (my favorite)  "LegendSea"    The "L" and the "S" are capped.

No charge,  Yat   haha

I'll take that as your blessing to remove Kodak from the Osprey.  Isn't that required for good luck anyway?  Haven't decided on a new name, but it was fun messing with people looking for you at Westport.

Good to hear the blessing is approved.  I don't want the bad Juju on the boat  :cha:  Whats the best method to remove the stickers from the boat?  Heat gun then a cutting compound and buff/wax?

I use heat gun then a new box cutter blade to peel and pull and scrape off with lots of wd40. takes it all off without damaging the gelcoat by buffing or other abrasions like rubber wheels etc. I just wind wind up with the old letters outlined by being protected from sun fade. clean the wd with a wipe of acetone.

I used doityourselflettering.com ,  I understand 'cast vinyl' lasts longer.  I'm sure the pros can do it better than I did but for my needs I was really happy with the decals.  I could make scale replicas of my boat name on the website and use the art app on my wife's iPad to make mock ups with different fonts and placements locations, sizes etc prior to purchase.

That picture of Kodak is awesome! Beauty.
