Blackmouth in the Eye of the Storm
« on: March 26, 2018, 11:37:25 AM »
Hit Mid Channel Saturday.   Wind, rain, ice,  and a little Snow in the morning.  Picked up this nice Blackmouth.   9lbs cleaned so I have to say it was pushing 10lbs.   Dragging a coho killer in the mud.   Resurrection coho killer with a Gibbs Madi flasher.  My go to combo at Mid Channel.  Not in my 19ft. Hardtop obviously.  In my friends 26 ft Silver Streak.   A bit more comfortable under the conditions.

Thanks, that pic. brings back memories! I grew up in Port Townsend and really fell in love with fishing catching my first salmon in Mid-channel. I was probably seven, and I would go out with my buddy Cal, who was in his 70's. He used nothing but home-made lead jigs with barbed treble hooks and a spritz of WD40 for scent.

For those of you who fish Puget Sound, the Area 9 limit went to Two hatchery chinook today.
