I bought this boat used, recently.  It has a 1997 Yamaha 50 with less than 600 hours so I am not going to repower, even though it is underpowered.  Currently it has a solas 3 blade 12 1/4 X 9.  I can run it up over the max 6000 without effort but it certainly will troll nicely.  I didn't want to keep using it for trolling so I bought a Suzuki kicker.  What is the best size of 3 blade prop size for overall performance on an ordinary load?

If the motors max is 6K RPM, and your easily going over with a moderate to heavy load I would go up one pitch size. You don't want to increase too much because your already as you say, under powered.
