My FIL is coming into town early April (2nd through 7thish).  It appears that is about prime time for springers.  I have never been springer fishing on the Columbia though and don't know much.  Does anybody have a recommendation for a good guide? Any other info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe give Wade Coates a call. He has a nice boat and gear, good guy.

FYI, typically springer fishing closes on the Columbia at some point in that first week in April to meet the upriver goals.  Of course, this is also the week when fishing typically starts to get good.  It will reopen in June.

Plan accordingly... if it closes early for some reason, the Willamette stays open (but you will need an OR license).

Thanks guys and thanks for the info on the typical closure.

It looks like I might have an old buddy take us out.  He lives in Oregon so I am guessing even if they closed the Columbia, we would head out on the Willamette.
