ISO/WTB: 17’-19’ Sea Pacer
« on: January 28, 2018, 01:17:48 PM »
Hello all!

I'm new to the forum and figured I should tap into the collective knowledge of the group as I search for my first Arima.  I think it's ridiculous that I live on an island (Vashon) and don’t have a boat!  Been hearing about Arimas since the late 80’s and fished out of them several times on the Columbia. Now I live in the Puget Sound and need some saltwater capability.

I’ve settled on the Sea Pacer in 17’-19’.  I like the open bow for trap/gear transport and freshwater fishing.  Seems like the 17’ has ample deck space for several fishermen, but 19 would be my preference.  I like the towability of these lenghts as I will likely follow the fishing around the NW.

I’ve been monitoring Craigslist amid Boat Trader. Any leads or boat sales websites would be greatly appreciated.

The Sea Pacer was made in 17' and one 21'.  They are hard to find.
Good Luck

Thanks Chief!  I’m not sure where I got the idea about a 19’ Pacer.  Any idea what years the Pacer series was made?  I know It’s not in production now.

Only one 21'? Wow.  I should have bought it when I had the chance.
Previously owned a 1998 19' SR

Lures are designed to catch fishermen not fish.

I'll bet you can order one Danno

Have a special cradle built in your garage, store the trailer (with a swing toungue) in the next bay over

A 19 Chaser will give you the room for "several fishermen", but for the most part 17 -19 rangers, in my opinion, are great for 2 people. You can fish 3 but most comfortable with 2.

I am a broken record, my humble honest opinion is go 19......19

Pretty sure my 17’ Sea Pacer deck is smaller than a Sea Chaser. I think it is similar in size to the Ranger..

Comfortable for two to fish.  Two is Company, three’s a crowd.  There are only two seats.  :shrug9:

It is do-able to fish three of four, but best for two.

Opinions will vary.  If I keep growing sideways, there may soon be only room for me.  :shrug9:

Can a person fish from the open bow area also?

The open bow is good for anchoring, launching solo, cooler and fishing tackle boxes and bags.

It is just uncomfortable for me to fish up there. :shrug9: the gunwales are not where you can brace yourself. You can’t lean, you can’t sit, you have to stand on your own. No good for me. I am usually fishing from my helm chair. I guess it would be a good place to fish in a lake or river, but in choppy sea it’s damn hard to stand up.

Sam has no issues fishing up there.....he is a young man .. :hoboy:

Chaser...  Let us both NOT make that a goal....  I had 'sticker shock' when I stepped on the scale a couple of days ago...

Just picked up a 17’ SP from a Arima Owners member.  Thanks for the feedback and support. This is going to be a great season :)
