Tower Build
« on: December 17, 2017, 09:38:48 AM »
[/img][/img][/img] Decided to fab up a tower using schedule 80 90's for my corners, then welding a gusset tying the 1 1/4 aluminum tubing together. We had the tubing from a previous project left over and it was pretty thick walled and didn't want to bend well. So, henceforth Sched 80. They are really tough, and I don't think they will crack. I just wanted to get my rods up and out of the way, get the nav light off the back end cuz it was in the way, and also get the vhf antenna up out of the way. Wiring for the nav light runs inside of the tubes as well as optional wiring for rear deck light to be added later. Weight is about 65 lbs. Rod holders were purchased online, polished stainless and heavy duty. Will add a drop of locktite to center bolt. It looks a little spartan and has not been cleaned up yet. Will post finished pics after I get it cleaned up and get the rear led deck light mounted.
If it swims, Ill  chase it
