Lowrance HDS. 12" or 9"
« on: November 25, 2017, 08:40:51 PM »
I decided to get a Lowrance HDS. While looking at the  12" HDS  it seem really big for a 19' sea ranger with the radio on the dash. Does anyone have a 12" fish finder. How is it mounted next to the radio? If not can I  make it fit with a 9" HDS.

Basspro was out of the HDS fish finders so I need to order online. So there is a little time.

Thank you

Do you think the 12 will fit? I defiantly would have to find a spot for my radio. As I get older and glasses get thicker, it would be nice to see the monitor. I saw Bass pro had the HDS 12 for $1700.00 not on sale, but they are out. They said to go online they are the same price. Well they lied, so now I am waiting one hour for Bass pro to open and try to get that $1700.00 price.

I think it would fit but fill the space. My radio is mounted under the top starboard storage bin. I do have a tack and my trim tabs controls that I need to see and reach around to operate. I might have considered a 12 but at the time it was $1000 more looks like some good deals now. Posts some pics.

I put a hds 9 gen 2 in my 19ht. Is yours a hardtop? I  mounted my unit above the windshield. It is totally above the windshield and does not block visability.
I can find  a pic if you have a hardtop........I got 3 footed itis  and got a sea legend. I just installed the hds12 gen3 on the dash. The extra size is awesome.

Unfortunately I have a soft top. I took the measurements and it will fit, but the radio will need to be moved.

The 12" HDS and VHF is a tight fit on my 21 Ranger, but it does work well on a Ram mount.  It is really nice having the larger screen and chart...Not sure how much difference the 21 Ranger dash is vs the 19 Ranger.  It's been 5 years since I had a 19 Ranger so some of those memories are fading..
