So found a 2001 Yamaha 80HP 4 stroke on CL for $3800.00 can any one tell me if it would be to heavy/to much power for my 16' SE?

Looks like that motor weighs 379 pounds. Not too much power, but that's really heavy if you have a kicker.

Threeweight

It's 320# for the 4 cylinder Etec 90, 390# for the "high output" v6 Etec 90.

Yup that's it #320 thanks. Threeweight, And a 4 hp 4 stroke kicker, no idea about weight. I keep the bow water full.. it's a bit heavier than the old Yamaha I think 75 hp that was on it, but the power, ease and fuel mileage is outstanding,  yup a little rump heavy for some but I like it.

I put a 2004 yamaha 75hp on my Sea Explorer.  I believe it is around 375lbs.  Don't normally run with a kicker unless going out of the bay.  A little heavy but a great motor and power combo.  (Don't pay attention to the trolling motor...just wanted to know if it would work)
