My attention has been directed to the differentiation between a wench and a winch...

A winch is one of those devices you use to lift anchors, secure boats onto trailers, raise crab pots... while a wench, on the other hand, has a completely different use.  Probably would not work well as a winch at all.   In literature you may see reference to a wench as follows:

"The Wench at the pub brought us two pints...  Webster says: "...a young woman who is a servant."   I am sure you can imagine other references for the use of a wench, however, this is a 'family' site and further details probably will not be necessary..

Just wanted to clear the air...   :jester:

Been seeing anchor wenches discussed for years...  Been looking for one to put on my boat, but, so far, been unable to find one

Winch or wench, can't either be on board??
May the holes in your net be no larger than the fish in it.

Treat your wench with care and you will get many years of service. High maintenance is required lest you risk dangerous consequences. Be careful of an unsuspected wack if your wench is wound too tight.
