Random Pictures of my 17SC (formerly owned by CanvasGuy)
« on: October 25, 2017, 02:22:36 PM »
I've been slacking and haven't posted pictures of all the changes made to the boat. Here are a few for now; feel free to ask if you have any questions on how things were set up.

Constructive criticism is welcome because our collective knowledge is greater than any individual.

Thank you for all of the insight and information shared throughout this process.

Items not pictured:
35 gallon gas tank in place of factory fish box
complete rewire - both dual batteries moved to the starboard sponson
Installation of in-hull transducer (Garmin GT15-IH)
KiwiGrip on walk around/bow
Outrigger bases
Gaff holders

Sliding tongue trailer extension

KiwiGrip on the deck and original wood panels (the laminate was worn). Also replaced the sleeper seat with a regular pedestal to free up rear deck space.

Stern switch panel - main and aux bilge pump, washdown, and spare/emergency bilge pump/(future electric reel)

Added a center, swiveling rod holder and relocated the harness, battery cables, steering cables, and shift/throttle cables higher in the splash well.

Custom swiveling rod holders - all 316ss construction.

Hungry kaku(barracuda) that tested the washdown system (left slime all over the deck).

Nice job!  Looks great.  I’m looking forward to lots of fish pictures!  Can I look you up next time I make it to Honolulu?  It would be a blast to fish out of a 17SC in Honolulu.

Beauty!  I admired that boat a few times at Neah Bay... great to see your photos of it tricked out in Hawaii!

I'm curious of what fish you go after or target. I love hearing of different fishing techniques of different species. Your boat looks awesome! I fished once going out of Kauai on a small charter. It was really fun.

Awesome job!

Joe

Thank you, just tried to learn from all of the DIY posts on this forum.

Nice job!  Looks great.  I’m looking forward to lots of fish pictures!  Can I look you up next time I make it to Honolulu?  It would be a blast to fish out of a 17SC in Honolulu.

Of course.  Send me a PM prior to coming out and I'll check the weather forecast and figure out what type of fishing will work.

Very Nice!!

Thanks, Terry.  Appreciate you answering my questions earlier about the boat.

I'll try to keep the good luck going; heard a lot of fish ended up on her deck.

Darrell,
We troll for various species of tuna/kawakawa/aku/shibi/ahi, mahimahi/dorado/dolphin, ono/wahoo and do some shallow water bottom fishing for various reef fish.  I'm still getting back into it so hopefully my skill set with get up to par as I put some hours on the water.

Ad, probably more for the garage / parking fit..

Looks good, the outriggers are quite impressive.

I haven't made it back to HI for several years and feel the need for some Island Time

Your boat looks nice,  that captains chair looks super comfortable, and I like the grates to keep the crud out of the bilge area, good job! Curious  what the PENN tennis ball container is for ?

The pressure is on to keep the mojo going!

Will try to link up with tc808 soon to get some pics. You have first pick on when you want to visit and fish.

It helps to keep the truck out of the water when launching. A few of the ramps here have bad a bad surge that can cause the rear end to lose traction/slide. The saltwater here is horriblly corrosive so the less contact with the vehicle the better.

They're Taco Marine gunwale mount holders with 1-½" x 15' telescoping carbon fiber outriggers. They collapse easy for storage and are light and deploy without much effort.

The tennis ball holder is to hold lures/hooks when clearing lines with a fish on. Most of the locally made boat here have a shelf under the gunwales so I had to come up with another alternative.

Just realized that I haven’t added any fish pictures to this thread. Season isn’t quite here but we’ve been trying to run the boat when the weather cooperates. Hopefully the fish get bigger...

There are a few older guys on island who have had their Arimas for years but don’t post online. They’ve been slamming every type of pelagic available out here; I have literally tons of catching up to do. Wish the hoos got bigger here but we’ll take what bites.

The swivel holders are custom fabricated by a friend. They’re based off a widely available design from Universal Manufacturers (local fab shop) but with some upgrades to the material (all 316) and swivel mechanism to provide smoother action (UHMW VS bronze washer, etc.). My friend also refuses to do SMAW welds so everything is TIG.

Hey, you're 5 months late---  but you do good work!!

Don’t hold your breath for the next update... it may be after your visit!
