DHM trailer
« on: October 07, 2017, 07:29:46 AM »
Hello all, I have a 2008 17' Sea Pacer that sits on a DHM trailer that was made in Sacramento I needed my spare tire last weekend and found that a standard trailer rim will not work as it rubs on the inner wheel well, I think I need a one inch deeper offset? I also found out that DHM trailer went out of business last May, I have been to several tire and wheel shops and had no luck. I know I can buy a wheel spacer at the auto parts store but I would like the right wheel. The tire size is 215/75R14, Thanks in advance for any help.

lots of tires that size on eBay, will the tire solve your problem. Do you have any info off the original wheel?

Between trailer weight and your boat, you are right at the capacity of the tires (3740#) in the posted spec.  I would be looking at the next range up.

I had a similar problem going up tire size to gain capacity. Went from ST 175/80 R13 to ST 185/80 R13  under compression of the springs the inside edge of the tire would rub in the fender. Solved the problem by making two 1/4 inch spacers from steel plate.

Also have a DHM trailer and unfortunately bent an axle recently when I forgot that I was trailering and found a fence post.  I ended up going to Chucks Brake and Wheel in Santa Rosa on the advice of several members of Coastside Fishing Club. They had me bring the trailer up to their shop (I launched the boat, took the wheel off the bad axel, and trailered up) so that they could measure the axles and order them from a company called UFP (unique functional products) who actually made the original axles. I'm still waiting for the parts to arrive so that I can have the whole trailer refurbished. You might want to call Chucks or look up UFP to see if they have anything that might be helpful.  :twocents:
