I do too. Wonder how many we can make ? ....I gotta find time to make drawings. Then I can "optimize" the panels.

They are expensive to buy, but we may find out why when we see how much Starboard it takes.  :jester:

I looked online for one these chum cutting boxes and wow, they're expensive. Then I remembered you made one and it seemed simple enough, so I made one too. Mine is definitely not the prettiest and it would have went easier if I had the right tools  but seems like it will work.

I didn't have any starboard, a little on the expensive side, so I bought a 24" x 18" x 1/2" cutting board and some stainless screws to hold it together. I made mine just small enough to be able to fit in the sponsom boxes 12" x 9" x 4" (footing is 6" wide)

Total cost $29

Good job AJ !  bowdown.gif :beerchug:

Mine is no longer pretty. 🥴

I have this nail gun that shoots plastic nails. (Raptor nails). It will shoot a 1-1/4" 16ga plastic nail through 1-1/4 inches of Maple wood.

I tested it on Starboard and discovered that as the nail pierces the Starboard, it also generates heat and melts it. Some of the melted Starboard seeps between the mated surfaces thus bonding the pieces.  I was testing it on 1/2" Starboard and having some difficulty with the nails centering on the cross section of the bottom piece. I was going to try it by using 1/2" and nailing into a 3/4" piece. Just have not gotten around to it.

:jester: yes very true !

CS that sounds like a nice way to put something like this together and a lot easier.  Also what did you use to cut the knife slits?

If I was make another one, I would make it the way you did, screws on the side, way easier.

I used a table saw to cut the slits. I used the fence and 1st cut 1-1/2" to leave room for the sides then 1" for each additional cut. I cut half of the slits then turned the board over to cut the other half. That's why some of the slits look shorter than others...because of the curvature of the blade.

It is dangerous to cut a rectangle between the blade and the fence.

A cross-cut sled would be a safer way to make the slits.

I have seen these for sale online for very high prices, so I decided to utilize some of my left-over Starboard and make my own.

I have used this several times, and it works great !

This gets a thumbs up! If you are fishing for Tuna, Dorado, Shallow Water Rockfish, .....this works great for creating bite sized chunks to chum with.

You just fill it up with baitfish. Slide your knife under the "hold-down" and slice away. Then dump your chum into a bucket. Saves time and fingers.

*** after taking this photo, I added a strap on one end to hold onto while rinsing it overboard.
