I need to shorten up the 4 point harnesses on my crab pots and want to do it right........ but for some reason I'm completely striking out trying to find these rope crimps online.   Any of you guru types out there know what these crimps are called and where to find them?

I tried Googling rope crimps and just can't seem to find them.   The harness rope appears to be 1/4 in...maybe 5/16ths.

Any help is sincerely appreciated...       Thanks!!!!

I just use stainless hog rings for all my pot harnesses. I make my own with yellow polly rope, because it's cheep and I have a lot. Here is how I do it. Put the line through what you are attaching. Pull a loop of one strand on the load side. Put the bitter end though that. I do that three times in about 6 or 8". Then I put a hog ring at the top and bottom of that splice. Done. Never had one fail. Just takes seconds to do.  :twocents:

Diablo, can you post a pic?

Here you go.

Hunter I forgot to mention rabbit cage crimps. They are similar to what you are looking for.

I use electrical ties both for situations where the old ties are getting rusty and for new connections.  Make sure the end of the line has been melted well to prevent unravelling. Put a couple of small ties, 4", through the twisted braid of the loose end and run through the main line, just below the rusting clips or where they were on the line.  Then use a couple of 8" ties to overwrap the lines inside the 4" ties.

The last time I bought those I got them at Lowe's. Been a few years.

Thanks for the reply's and the ideas!!   Sincerely appreciated..    I'll check Lowes.    Somebody somewhere sells these or at least knows what they are called.      :anyone:    It's driving me nuts that I can't find-em..   But I was already nuts anyway so no big deal....

Google "metal rope clamps". Not sure if you will find an exact duplicate of what you have but you may find something better.

OK..... found-em today.    Took a lunch break and went to Outdoor Emporium.   10 clamps for $3.    So I bought 6 packs for a total of 60 and figure that'll do me fine for awhile.    SMI product.    Even now that I know what they are and who makes-em, still can't find-em online..   :shrug9:

Sometimes you just have to go to an actual "brick and mortar" store.  :shrug9:
