New Seats - Tempress Trojan
« on: July 28, 2017, 12:14:15 PM »
I had the opportunity to try out my new seats over the last few weeks. Fished a bunch of hours.

If any of you are looking at these seats (formerly Attwood SAS), don't hesitate to buy them. They are awesome.

Hey John,
We have the same boat and I was wondering if those temptress Trojan seats spin 360 with no problem hitting anything on the 1511 with the pedestal mounted in original spot.
Thanks much, Willy

Willy, SR 19 Storage seat here- The SAS will only turn with the back inboard.  You need to get off then turn it rearward then sit again.

Picture above

A lot depends on where the pedestal or seat is on the box.

Willy, mine spin 360 degrees either direction on the original pedestals.

My Centric II SAS will only spin with the back inboard on my Sea Chaser 1511. The back hits when attempting to spin the drivers seat the normal way. I have to get up, spin the seat the wrong way then sit back down with the seat facing backwards. (Same as GregE)

I have to get up to spin my stock Arima seats. They also have to spin inward.

Weird. I just tried it again to make sure. Spins both ways clear.

I wonder if there was a slight variance for the pedestal mounting bolts  :shrug9:

Depends on where the dealer mounted the controls.

On my boat the stock seats are not even close to being able to spin while seated. I can turn it around if I get up and spin them clockwise. If you look at the pedestal base in John’s first pic it looks about only 2 inches relative to the in floor fish hold. If you look at my photos the pedestal base seems a lot more to the right side. Not a big deal and it keeps more space between myself and my passenger.  It may also be that I do not have the dual shelf cutout.  :shrug9:

I think it's just that the newer seats are a bit bigger overall than the older Tempress models.

Dear Arima:  Please "square-off" the Hunter transom.  Make it like my old 77 Silverline.  Thank you.  Oh yeah...please hurry; I'm getting old.

BTW, I don't know why Arima got rid of that upper shelf on the 16's. :shrug9:   I find it quite useful; especially on the port side.  You can never have enough places to stash stuff on a small boat.

Thanks for all the replies,
I'm going to take the plunge and order the Trojans and hopefully my 1511 (91) will work out like John's. I'll be happy if I can just turn enough a see my downrigger from the helm seat but would want the mates to go 180. My pedestals are in great shape so really would like to not mess with them at all.

Its actually fine with me. As you can see in the photo I have one waterproof Yeti bag with my sunglasses, binoculars, and a multi tool. I hate clutter on the boat. It may also provide more structural strength as well :shrug9:

Those storage areas look messy. Mine is all cluttered up with hooks, sinkers, pliers, scale, schnocker. Etc.

My drink holders are full of the same junk.

Fisher, your boat looks so neat and clean.

Now, I don't want to have to tell you guys exactly how clean my boat is...……...but...…….let's say I happen to be eating a sandwich, and a slice of tomato happens to accidentally fall out and onto the deck.  Well.....I simply pick up the slice and put it back into the sandwich.  No need to even brush-it-off.  Now tell me......would you guys be "comfortable" doing that?  Spilling soup, on the other hand, is a little more involved, but I won't get into it.

Hey...…….this reminds me; I want to talk about an idea I had for a back-to-back "HiLo" seat built on Arima's storage box.  Been thinking about it lately.  I'll have to start a post on this later.

I’m about due for my yearly waxing. I am not looking forward to it  Back to the seats, I like my stock seats. I used to have the Tempress fish-on seats on my previous boat and they are not bad, but the padding is only about an inch thick
