Simrad GO9 Install Video
« on: June 01, 2017, 11:39:23 AM »
I just want to say thanks to the Arima community because a lot of insights I learned from all of you helped me decide on what main electronic system I wanted to buy, screen size/position etc. I feel like this community is my boat happy place.

It's funny that we talk so much about the transducer location because I may have to move it when I invest in trim tabs (winter project).

I actually saw this video on the west marine website and have a few questions for you about it.  First, how is the system after you installed it? Does everything work and does it meet the expectations that you had of it?  Second, I'm thinking about purchasing the same system but noticed you don't have the radar dome.  So is the radar dome only needed when you want radar capabilities?  In my situation I don't want, nor do I believe I will need radar, and I sure as heck don't want to have to spend another $1500-2000 on a radar dome that I'll likely never use.  Last question, with mounting the transducer where you did, do you still have the side scan on the port side?  I saw somewhere that if you mount it on the starboard side of the engine that the engine can block or distort the imagining of the opposite side scanning.  Thanks for your time and any other opinions that you have of this product would be very much appreciated.  Thanks again!
