SeaDek install
« on: April 03, 2017, 05:29:09 PM »
I picked up two big sheets of SeaDek on Black Friday. Finally got them installed now that the sun came out. It cuts nice and is easy to work with. Took me about 3 hours to make the patterns and 1.5 hours to install.
Two sheets will do a full 21ht plus steps and gunels with some extra. I am very impressed with the product. Very good grip and way more comfortable to stand on. I think it will help with noise and vibration too. Time will tell but it appears to be a great product as in doing research it's hard to find a negative review.

Looks nice, but I must say, if you boat in bare feet (like I always do), you'd be "dancing" when the sun got to it.  Definitely have to opt for a lighter color.

Dear Arima:  Stretch the Hunter platform by 5. Next, stretch the Explorer by 9 and steal 2 or 3 from the cabin.  Please hurry, I'm getting old.

According to the reviews even the dark colors don't get too hot for bare feet. Not that I have to worry about it up here in the PNW anyway lol.

Took the boat out on the Columbia today to try and find a chinook in the mud. No luck on the fish but I can't believe how much sound and vibration that the SeaDek took out of my boat. I was blown away...thought it would help but not nearly as much as it did. Super impressed.

Haven't gotten it dirty or bloody yet. They say it cleans as well as the deck...I would guess it will clean well based on the feel of the material. The reviews from saltwater fishing guides are all positive on the cleanup. I will keep this thread posted if I run into any issues with the product. I hope to put it through some heavy use this summer.

I bet that is going to work out really good for you.

Thanks! No I tossed them....it didn't take long to make them. For ourboats two sheets of the 77x39 does the whole job plus. You may need it now with that 175 so all your crew dosnt  slide to the back when you juice it!

Look great!!!

Just a few questions about the installation please...

* What can you tell us about the adhesive or glue used for install?

* With patterns of that size, any issues getting it "perfectly straight" before the adhesive sets up?

* And what's the expected fix if a corner ever lifts?

Thanks in advance for your help, as others may be interested in this sticky subject too.

I can answer that. I've used for my Arima consol an now using it on another boat. Great stuff.

It's peel and stick. The instructions say cut the backing without cutting the foam half the longest length. Place it where it goes, tape it so it doesn't move. Then fold back half an remove the backing and roll in in place. Repeat for other half. Like doing a big vinyl decal.

I ordered it from their website. Looks like Shawn posted the link. I picked it up on their Black Friday sale for 50% off. It cost me $150 to do the whole boat plus 20 for the fish tape measure. I was debating giving this product a go then when that sale came up I couldn't pass it up. Normal price is $150 per sheet.

I got the samples today! I would highly recommend anyone on the fence ordering the sample kit. I figured I would get a few basic colors with the different textures they offer. Not at all! I got a box with at least 35-40 different colors and textures. Seems like pretty cool stuff.

OK, I am going to have to order up a sample kit.   What are your thoughts on landing crab pots on it?   I use a mat now and I like the idea of having this stuff in place all the time to cut down on the wear on the deck.

My sample kit arrived. :applause: Keep in mind, it is actual product with adhesive. Going to use some of it for cell phone pads. If there is enough interest we could approach them about a group buy. I will be doing mine as soon as I can get a deal on it.  It looks like it will hold up pretty well to abuse.

Feels great barefoot!
Landing crab pots on it will be no problem and they won't slide...it's tuff.
Was out on the water today in the rain...it has awesome traction wet! I can't say enough good things about this product so far. On the trip today I was again blown away by how much noise and vibration this stuff takes up. Standing on it helps with fatigue on the feet as well. HIGHLY recommended!
