Greg, thanks for the pic.   See, it can be done.  That's a 22, but doesn't seem it would take much to reinforce the 21 top.  One thing I don't like about the bridge on that 22 is it's "openness".  Would look nicer and probably feel more secure being up there if it had a small fiberglass "surround enclosure" like you normally see on those bridges.
Dear Arima:  Please "square-off" the Hunter transom.  Make it like my old 77 Silverline.  Thank you.  Oh yeah...please hurry; I'm getting old.

IMO  Simply more high weight on a boat not designed for that weight distribution in the first place.  I would sure not want to be in anything more than 'calm' waters running that craft.

Fixer, yeah you've got a point.  Sitting up there would require a little common sense for sure.  That said,  the 21 seems to have a fairly low profile.  I think that, in and of itself, could qualify it as a viable candidate for that option.  On this subject, I seem to recall seeing a clip on Youtube of a guy being thrown overboard off of the flybridge of a fairly large cruiser.  I guess if it gets rough, it can happen......even to the "big guys".

Quick note about wiring.  We use Blue Seas for the panels and marine grade wire throughout.

For a new boat $10k to two feet is a whopper, maybe why so few 21's out there.

ThAt fly bridge looks scary!
In my opinion the $10k more is worth every penny. The 21 is a whole different animal from the 19 and much more seaworthy. I looked for a 19, bought a 21 and never regretted it . When the seas get rough that extra 2 feet is a godsend.

Thanks for all the suggestions.  In the end,  Sportcraft hooked me up with a 21SR and Suzuki 140.  I'm pretty happy.  Looking forward to getting 'er on the water.

Sweet!  I have admired that boat several times when I have gone to Sportcraft to buy service items for my motors.  I saw the price markdown on in... you got a screaming deal on it!

"I liken the Arima to a jeep and the dory to a vanagon or wesfalia...the owners as well...one a bit sporty and diy, the other with sandals and socks..."

This cracked me up and clarified things for me as well.  It's settled, I'll be definitely getting an Arima!

Hah! Yah I've independently come to the conclusion that an arima is the jeep of the sea.

As for owner personalities...i'm heavily biased, but arima folks tend to be normal, levelheaded types. The guy that cuts across your trolling line or does jerky things at the boat launch is usually driving some other brand.

I call them brophies ;)

Mark I don't know which is scarier crawling up there in a parking lot and looking down at the hard asphalt or getting up there in a pitching sea. Neither are for me will be taking the tower and controls off selling them separate to a cobia hunter around here.

Dave, congrats on the purchase.  That black belly band against the off-white looks fabulous.  Traditionally nautical, to say the least.

First project done!  The hydraulic jack plate is mounted.  I won't have any performance data for a while yet but at least I can trailer with the outboard in the down position.

Next on the list is a radar arch.  Going to Who Dat on Monday.  The inflatable will fit under the arch.

I'm looking at getting something like this:

Nice! But will the arch still fit under the garage door?

Barely!  I have 30" between the top of the skip tower and the top of the 12' door.  I figure I'll have about an inch to spare. It'll be tight.  :bigshock:

Nice!  How hard is it to get the dinghy up top??  I might look into a similar arch for my HT.  Beautiful boat!
