DC to DC Charger

Anyone uses a DC to DC charger for the dual battery setup? It needs an ignition wire connection (12v when the motor is running?). I'm interested to see how one wires it.

Any reason why you would run a DC to DC charger on a small boat? are you using lithium batteries ?
Why not just a ACR or DVSR?



IMO
Expensive and overkill.
Most smaller outboards don't charge past 50A... Usually this is more used in inboards with larger charging output.

If you do go this route you just connect into the ACC out of the start switch.

Thank you for the responses. I was looking for an ACR solution, then I found the DC to DC charger. There's a Renogy 20A DC to DC charger that sells for $86 on Amazon. And yes, I want to use Lifepo4 battery at least as the house/backup battery.

Ok understood if using Lifepo4 as your house.
FYI
Usually install the DC to DC chargers in dry low moisture areas.
