Hey guys, I have kind of an odd request. My mother is moving up to Alaska from Bonanza Oregon, and I need help finding an enclosed trailer big enough to haul her household goods and car up here. I've been looking on craigslist, but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

Here's what I need:

enclosed trailer between 20 and 24 feet long
must have 10,000 pound GVWR
must have good tires
needs current tags
exterior lights must work
can't have any leaks/damage
heavy duty tie-downs are a plus
beavertail/drive on/ramps are a plus

I'm flying in to Seattle this Thursday morning (the 7th of June) and will be renting a truck big enough to tow such a trailer while I'm there. So, I can buy a trailer anywhere between Seattle and Klamath Falls/Bonanza. When I get it all loaded, I'll be hauling it back to Seattle/Tacoma to put it on a barge to ship it up to Alaska. So, it needs to be road worthy enough to get that far with a full load without breaking down. I won't have any extra time to work on a fixer-upper. And I don't really want to stand in line at the DMV getting new tags (I will if I have to).

I'm looking to pay $5000 or less. But, I can pay more if I absolutely need to. My backup plan is to rent a u-haul truck and a trailer for the car, and drive her stuff up. But, that will cost more and take more time. So things will work out better all around if I can find an appropriate trailer.

Do any of you guys know of any trailers like this for sale? I haven't had much luck on craigslist so far. I'd appreciate any leads.

If you cant find anything used, try these guys http://www.freewaytrailer.net/trailer-specials.asp. They have pretty decent prices. If it's all going on a barge, why must the car be in the trailer? Could you buy a smaller trailer, and ship the car separate?

Decent prices here too.

That's a good question WeDo. I have to get the car from Bonanza to Seattle, along with the rest of the stuff. And, the little Kia isn't going to pull a trailer big enough to haul all the household goods and furniture. So, it has to go in the trailer unless I make two trips. And, even if I could get everything to the Seattle dock, there are issues shipping a loose car on the barge. It's possible, but it would cost more. And, when everything does finally get up here, the car can be unloaded and the trailer can be used as a storage unit and still have room to get to everything by moving it around in the trailer without unloading it all. So, all-in-all, the big trailer just makes more sense.

Oh... and, thanks for the link. I'll check those out.

Here is something that is exactly in your price range and what you are looking for!

It's just down the road for me. Maybe I can go talk to the guy.

Thank for the leads. The first one (set up as a camper) looks interesting. We certainly wouldn't have any problem selling it up here when we were done with it. But, I don't know if the bunks, fridge, and heater would take up too much valuable space. Still, I'm going to email the guy and get more info.

The second one only has a 7000 pound GVWR, so it won't work.

The third one also has built-ins, which aren't ideal. But again, it's worth pursuing.

Thanks again.

I bought a trailer from Blaser Trailer Sales last February.  They've two locations in Oregon.  They were very thorough, and very easy to work with.  Their website is lacking, but you could give them a call.  (541) 389-9849

Of note: If you buy from a dealership in WASHINGTON state, you'll need to be prepared to prove residency OUTSIDE of the state if you don't want to pay sales tax.  If you buy in Oregon, there's no sales tax.  If you buy private-party, it won't be an issue, since you won't be registering in WA they won't be able to "get" you for the tax.

I live very close to the Orting trailer. You could swing buy, unload what you dont want in it, and I could sell it on CL for you, and mail you a check. Or, I could have a  cool beer fridge in the garage...

I live very near the one in Rochester. http://seattle.craigslist.org/oly/rvs/3054170400.html I'd be willing to let you use my space and tools to remove the cabinets.
