Judy and I traveled up the Olympic Peninsula to Port Angeles and decided to make a trip up to Hurricane Ridge.  The Olympic mountains are fairly new, still sharp , about 7-9000'  and hold snow into August.  The Hurricane Ridge visitor center is at 5200' and the day was beautiful.  Blacktail deer took advantage of the lush grass and flowers and fed within a dozen feet of me.

I was last up there about 1959 while in Jr High....

Great park for sure. The views back towards Seattle from the peaks are amazing. Good easy drive and tons of trails.

Headed up in the spring and the peak was still covered with snow and flush with skiers and snow boarders.

Pretty lucky to live in a region with so many first rate natural amenities.

Great pics greg.

I'm the 70's I backpacked ONP extensively and loved the gorgeous views and the absence of visitors.  Also enjoyed the Olympic and Sol Duc hot Springs nearby.
The mountain goats were regular campsite visitors- here's an update about them.

I too spent a couple summers on my feet in the Olympics in the late 1960's.  They are rugged and steep.  Very scenic.

Usually easy to get decent lift for the mainlines.  Damned chokers always seemed to quickly kink...  First couple times rigging a 250+ foot tree was scary though.

Very Majestic mountains, I have a view of them most mornings going to work and every time I'm fishing southern west coast of the Island her. I can see Mt Baker on very clear days as well.
