There are many threads on this topic, but I thought I would share the experience with the group anyways as I learned a ton from all the past posts and pictures. I have a SC 17 that desperately needed trim tabs due to the weight of the motors and fuel while underway. After much research, I decided to go with the Instatrim brand in size 9x12. They were less expensive than Lenco or Bennett and have been the standard for Arimas for many years.  The install went extremely well despite having to drill holes in the transom - always scary to do.  I had to make a few modifications and want to send a shout out to Rick (Wyrguy) for assistance on where to purchase and how to install the 90 degree elbow so that I could fit the pump in the small space under the port bait box.  It worked perfectly!  While I have not put the boat in the water yet, I plan to do so this weekend and all seems to operate as normal.  Hope I got the pictures uploaded correctly.

Attached is a photo of the new location of the transducer.  There wasn't any room to install it with these tabs on a SC near the drain plugs.

Your install looks real nice and clean. I had the same problem with the transducer so I went to the starboard side with it to be away from the kicker wash. Also mounted it on a piece of starboard and am playing with pieces cut at compound angles to get it mounted just right.

Todd,
Thanks for the  moment. Sometimes things are so obvious, that you don't see them. That 90 degree elbow is exactly what I need for mine! Very nice looking install, congrats! You are going to love the trim tabs. A lot of guys seem to go with the Smart Tabs for the 17's, so I would be curious how these work out for you. Make sure you post a report!

Put the sea chaser in the water this morning to test the new instatrim tabs.  I'm very pleased with the results at both low and high speeds. The boat planes from a standstill much faster even with tabs fully retracted. While underway, the ability to level the boat to one side to compensate for heavier items (kicker motor or heavy fishing buddy) is extremely nice and makes for a more comfortable ride. That said, I won't be using much of the tabs range of motion. It only takes a half second push or two of the switch and the boat responds instantly. Overall I'm very happy with the result of the project.

Re: InstTrim Tabs - Anyone else have the issue of the power plug working its way loose from the pump?  Before every trip I need to get down there and push the plug in to make sure there's a connection.  Guess it would be good to know if it's just my issue or if everyone has that problem.  Thx!
