Belinda, does arima carry any gelcoat (smaller then the quarts available from spectrum) for a 96 arima?
Anybody out there have leftover from their own project that we could buy some from.
Also, what is the actual color of the normal arima gelcoat for a 96? Is it dune beige or arima off white?
If your talking about the top liner, it may be the so-called "colonial white" like my 94. I had Arima paint my entire boat that color. Beautiful!

It is the hull sides that we are looking at repairing. When I search spectrum I get 5 colors. Burgandy and blue are 2 of them which is obviously out but then their is arima off white, dune beige and Astoria gray. Guessing we wouldn't have the Astoria gray as it says 81-04. Is Astoria gray the liner color on some?
Dune beige is even odd as spectrum has 2 different ones. There is an 81-95 option and a 96-99. My guess is we have the off white but not sure.
Here is a Pic if it helps. (https://photos.app.goo.gl/1Tqm38onykGCQaUY8)

Your hull and liner are dune beige. The deck, including gunwales and baitwell lids, are Arima off white. I am not sure why they have two different dune beige colors but I suggest getting the patch paste kit. If you let me know your email, I will send you simple gelcoat patching instructions.
Belinda
Thanks Belinda. You are the best!
I will dm you my email. Is the patch kit something we can get from the factory or defiance? My father lives on Bainbridge so not to bad of a drive to get there.
Another member also messaged me that he has a gallon for a 97. I am waiting confirm from him the color.
1996 and 1997 had exact same colors.

Oh man, so what about a 1982 17' seachaser with the red stripe? Is it possible I could buy a bunch of the actual color?!?
I don't think they will ship gelcoat.... "hazardous material"
You are better off buying some from a Local supplier and having it color matched.
I would Also be interested in hearing what you did and how it turned out Bill, as from my understanding 1996 is the year arima went to the new lighter hull color. I need to do a few gel coat repairs and don't want to buy a whole gallon.
This is the color of my 94 SC 16. https://www.iboats.com/shop/spectrum-color-arima-1981-1995-sea-ivory-colonial-color-boat-gel-coat-gallon.html I seem to remember Donny calling it "Colonial White". IMO, it's the most beautiful color Arima ever chose to go with. Per my request, Donny gelled my entire boat in this color. Very classy; I must say. Somewhere along the way, I believe Arima went to (what I call) "Sterile Cuckoo Operating-Room-White". You know.......a color you might remember just prior to being rendered unconscious before your last surgery? Or.......the color of the coats worn by the men who were taking you're crazy uncle away in a straight jacket? :jester:

Thanks Yat LOL, I'm not positive but that might be the color of inside my boat. It's more of a white than anything else. Gotta wear shades in that thing when the suns out or I feel I might go blind.
When I bought GelCoat I went with Fiberlay.
https://www.fiberlay.com
Their DUNE BEIGE matched perfectly to my 1990 SR.
Not sure how it would match your 1996 boat, for me I was Stoked.
They did offer shipping for Gelcoat, but I was close enough to one of their distributors.....I went and picked it up.

Martin what city and place was the distributor located where you picked up the gelcoat, was it locally near us? I see they have 2 places, one in Lancaster and the other in SD.
I have a few spots I'm getting tired of trying to match and was going to buy some gelcoat form Fibreglast, but if Fiberlay has a retail shop near by, it would be worth it to see if they have something that matches my boat. Unfortunately their site is down right now.
I went out to Lancaster. 1st exit off the 14.
Relatively close.
They were really helpful and gave me some good tips on mixing.
I could have waited the 3 days for shipping.....but I wanted to start coating the next day.
You know how it is with a project schedule

That's cool about an hours drive around the mountain from my house, not bad.
Totally understand the
got to have it now project schedule. I'm waiting for some marine wire from Kentucky to get here Friday, feels like it might as well be next year, lol. 2AWG marine wire is crazy expensive now and hopefully this Kentucky place I bought some from has good wire because it saved me about $100, glad they didn't get the memo.
