Headed over to Garbaldi today to put the crab pots out.
Hoping for some crab for Christmas Dinner.
I'll give a report on how I do. :food:
Sounds great, good luck!
Just took my Xmas crabs out of the freezer, I'm a fair weather crabber.
Merry Xmas to all
Jim
I'm planning on steak and crab for New Year's Eve, although I'll be buying the crab from the store :shrug9:
I'm headed out here in a few minutes to hit area 8-2. I'll also give a report tomorrow..

And you're so close to EPIC crabbing this time of year!
I'll be making a crab dip appetizer for Christmas Eve with my family. Fresh-caught, picked, and frozen a couple weeks-ago from the Columbia River. We didn't keep anything under 7 inches wide, and some were close to 8. We had our three limits in one pick of the gear, could have limited another 3 guys that day.
Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year to all Arima-holics, whether you own one or not!
Sure wish I could get out and do some crabbing. Got to get the boat back together. Best of luck to those out there getting after those tasty critters.

Good luck guys
So we launched out of Everett and the water was good for WOT so we headed up into Saratoga passage to one of our favorite bays off the west side of Camano and it was totally carpet bombed by the tribe boats..... So we scrapped that idea, brought up the maps on the Garmin and found nice little bay over off Whidbey that had no pots in sight..... Per our normal protocol on any new spot, we dropped two prospect hoops for a quick 20 minute soak to just verify "life" and we got two nice hardshell keepers for tonight's dinner.. and also a couple of large females that were fully loaded with roe. Then stowed the prospect hoops and dropped our four big pots loaded with chicken parts, cheap catfood and mackeral that we'll leave for an overnight soak and see what we get tomorrow.. I'll report back..
anxious to hear, hunter. I'm weighing dropping my boat in the water for the holiday week with crabbing in mind... we have family coming from out of state.
I took my 6 pots to Garbaldi and dropped them in my favorite channel.
I have a friend who lives in Tillamook and he has five commercial sized pots in the bay that he had not checked for a few days.
My friend said he would appreciate it if I checked his pots and rebated them for him. He said I could have what ever crab was in the pots.
The first pot that belonged to my friend that I pulled had 34 legal sized jumbo crabs. I couldn't get the pot into the boat by myself.
That was the only pot I pulled today. Saved the rest for when I go back tomorrow.
My son and I both coach the local high school and middle school wrestling teams and we are taking a few of the boys out tomorrow that don't have fathers living with them.
Should be a great day. I think we will be cooking crab all day.
Today I pulled one pot and got enough for Christmas dinner.
If tomorrow is like today, between my pots and my friends, I think all the wrestling coaches that help out with the team will be having crab for Christmas. :applause:
Good Luck to the rest of you guys out looking for dinner.
Good on you Walt.  That age Kids that don't have dad's around much really miss out..

Pulled our four pots this morning. Averaged 7 nice hardshell keepers per pot. Just me and the wife so sorted out the picks of the litter to take home. Also saw several more of the females totally packed with roe...
Mark.... sending you a PM.

Do you release the ones with roe ? Do you eat the roe ?

Females all go back.......no can keep
Looks like a trillion little crabs will be born from the one crab. 🦀
45 keepers in one pot.
My son (on the left) and two of the wrestlers we took out.
The two boys had never been on a boat before today.
The two boys decided there going to save their money and buy a boat together.
This is how it all starts. :jester:

Awesome!!
Yea, that's great! Exactly how it starts, and nothing better than outdoor activities for young men.
We pulled a crab pot a few years ago that had a ball of what looked like a million tiny baby crabs, we just lowered it back down...
Spent the morning running around delivering crab to all the wrestling coaches in town.
Only one weirdo in the bunch that doesn't eat crab.
The weirdo guy that doesn't eat crab took some crab anyway to take to his annual family Christmas seafood dinner that he comes home hungry from.
In a couple of days Im going to go back and pull my pots again.
Its that time of year. I just love crab. I don't know anybody that can eat more crab than me.

Once I get started on crab I can't stop. I eat so much, I get that weird seafood buzz feeling :food:
I'm half weird, I only crab once or twice in a year - shellfish is at the bottom of my seafood list.
My son and I both coach the local high school and middle school wrestling teams and we are taking a few of the boys out tomorrow that don't have fathers living with them.

I don't have a father at home....... :shrug9:
Dear Greg:
I can't tell you how heartwarming it is to read of this gesture of goodwill; especially at this time of the year. I'm sure this unselfish act of kindness will not go unnoticed. Although it's obvious we've never met, and don't really know each other, I can't help but feel you are the kind of person I would be honored to call a true friend. You are, without a doubt, a man among men.
All the best, Yat
Hey Yat
I really like crab, don't sour my deal.... :food:
Ooops! Sorry. I take it all back! (ha)
I was going to pull the pots again today but yesterday I was sicker than a dog. Touch of the flu.
Feeling better today but not 100%
My buddy that was going to go with me offered to take his boat and pull them for me and took his son.
Im sitting here at home waiting for a report on how the pots faired.
I am jealous as hell! sitting here in Denver with the boat in the garage for the winter the only thing I can do is drool over that picture of an over stuffed crab pot and wish I was in the land of water! the other day we went to Costco to get lobster tails, king crab and tiger prawns for our New Years dinner! When I come up in August the crab are all scattered from constant fishing pressure and it seems all that is left are small males and a bunch of females!
