Oil spill of Huntington Beach.

If you are planning on fishing off Huntington Beach this weekend, (AJ) you may want to stay clear of the offending platform. (I think it's Emmy)

I see that the barracuda are moving in. The slick is 2-1/2 miles. Going North...Horseshoe kelp or Rocky Point might be a better choice.

Still not a lot of news top report.
I am not seeing much AIS auction on any response boats yet.

There is a nice looking boat drifting the NB pipe. WSB should start to appear. Hope the spill doesn't mess it up.

If you looked at the AIS this morning, there was a nice looking Steiger type fishing boat drifting along the pipe. Looks like the type of boat who knows the drill.

No fishing for me over the weekend, but did see the report on the channel 5 news talking about it and showing the tar balls on the beach, but didn't mention about the syringe in the middle of the shot.

Latest news sounds like they got a lot of the oil cleaned up, but of course the sand is still ongoing.

They never mentioned where it came from.

We blame the oil platform, but there were tar balls before that platform was built. Sometimes that oil just oozes up naturally.

If it is naturally burping up, my ears go back expecting an earthquake soon.  :jester:

Yeah lots of natural tar seepage around Southern California. I remember years ago going to Carpinteria state beach you could see the tar naturally seeping out of bluffs.
I also remember when I was younger before and/or after surfing, many times, stepping on the tar balls on the beach, always a pleasure to clean off your heels.

Always Fishing

Redondo canyon has oil film all the time. Some days can be worse than others. There's leakage in the deep canyon. Depending on whom you talk to, some say it's a natural leakage, and some say it's a leakage from a capped drilling.
