Check out that depth! I love my new transducer.  I wanted to take a pic of the screen loaded with tuna when I was fishing with Bruce, but it was too hectic.

Edit: I wonder what that was at 2500'??

Check out the echo at the top of the screen.  It means something, but I don't know what.

3WT may be right. Your chart does look like you are coming across a 2500' seamount.  Maybe your gain wasn't turned up enough for below the 2500' depth.  :shrug9:

Wedocq,

Doesn't your FF have a "screenshot" function that saves .jpgs to your card like 2shortb.?

I am having a hard time discerning bait balls from balls of seaweed etc...do they mark the same?

Also do you fish the perimeter of the ball...do you circle the ball?

Not quite sure what I'm seeing or what to do when I see it?

Bait will hug the bottom but If there is seperation from it then i would say 99% of the time its bait.
Every sounder is a little different, you will get used to whats what in time.
The important thing is to stay close to the bait, go through over or below if trolling, if there is no current i usually stop trolling and jig around the ball.

I am sure it does, but I am too busy fishing every time I think of doing it!

:jester:  I get it.    :jester:   I have to go out and crawl up in the boat to hook up my FF so I can make changes.  Can't seem to concentrate on anything but fishing while out on the water.   :jester:

LvrWurst, hope you post reports about how your new 115 Yamaha works on your 17  Arima. Im going to get a new Yami or Merc like Headducks at the boat show.I would like more  information about how they  work out  on a 17 ft. Arima first.

AlAdams

Wow!  I have the exact same unit and I've never seen fish like that on my screen.  But then, I'd have better luck if I actually drug the boat out of the garage and showed it some water!   Next week. :hoboy:

C'mon Kim, don't you have a good shot from the "Big Boat?"
Big boat photo from this mornings fishing. Simrad ES70 split beam 120kHz freq. We also have 38 & 120. For some reason the 120 is best in this depth. The upper part of the screen is the standard surface to bottom display. Lower part is bottom lock looking at bottom up 3 fathom. Fish marks on the bottom are yellowfin sole and cod.

I know Jon. That set up even shows you what side/area of the sonar cone the fish is being picked up on. OK everyone hang on Hard to port. I'm sure there's a full coffee pot within reach of that screen too!  :jester:
