Sea Explorer is a rare bird... I would not let a six hour drive hold me back for something I really want.

Quote from: Wiley on April 01, 2024, 06:29:44 AMI've been happy with mine. There's one for sale on Pittsburg CA. C L i think it's an 89. Been on there for awhile
thanks for the heads up but it's to far for me Google maps says 14hr drive 800 miles I would be spending another 1k just in fuel!

Hmm some serious fuel mileage issues there.

Ahh but you'll make up for it in fuel efficiency on the explorer !

Love the Sea Explorer. Post 94. I kept thinking I would succumb to "two footitis" hasn't happened yet. I can sleep on it. The boat handles way rougher water than I do. Can fish any body of water. Can beach it by myself really anywhere.

I believe you reached out to me on YouTube. If I see one come up will let ya know. They will pop up for sale. I really feel like you need at least a 70 though. My 60 drags tail when fully loaded. Messing with prop helped though. I'm finding myself with a collection of props in my garage for different waters.

yeah that was me. I'm really debating on getting the one in coos bay said they would take $8500 cash as is. Would still leave me with room to get a kicker and a downrigger. Just wish it was a little closer and they were open weekends I would have to take a day off work as well.

The one in Oregon is nice overall and with the stern rails, those are nice to have especially with having a child onboard, but those are always something you can buy if you got a boat without them.
The 50 might be a little under power deepening on your use, but it is a 2 stroke so it will have a little more kick to it, parts are cheap and diy repairs are typically easy to do. Make sure your wife is ok with the famous 2 stroke exhaust smell, my wife wanted nothing to do with the smell.
$8500 is not a bad deal, $8k would be a little better.

The boat selling season has just begun and there might be some better Explorer's out there that might pop up. :shrug9:  Think about how much of a hurry you are in to buy a boat, when I'm in a hurry I make poor buying decisions and when I'm not, it seems I get what I'm looking for.

Good luck in your search.

I hope I see a picture of it in your driveway tomorrow! Best of luck!!

Barring anything really weird/problematic, you should jump on this.  Even if it isn't perfect yet (is there any such boat?), it's probably the closet thing you're going to find that matches what you're looking for.

I agree with MarkyMark and hope to see pics of it in your driveway very soon.
