I just got an email from WestMarine. They are offering the Simrad GO9 for $799 and 5X points(next 3 days)

This is a good deal. The 5X points amount to quite a discount providing you don't mind spending the credit at WestMarine.

When I bought my GO9, it was $899 and 3X points and I thought I got a great deal. My wife spent the 3x credits on a jacket and shoes.

This is a great way to encourage the wife to allow buying new electronics.  :jester: :beerchug:

Do you know what the output power is on this unit? I can't seem to find the specs for it.
I've been looking at the Furuno GP1971f with the P66 transducer combo for around $1300. Do you think the higher screen resolution and the 600w/1kw power outputs are worth the extra $500?

I feel Furuno is hard to beat when it comes to sounders and radars.  I also feel 1kw is better overall but that kind of depends on how deep you are really wanting to see or what kind of depth you generally fish in.  Most cases 600w should do you very well.  I see The GPS store has the unit you're wondering about @ $1049.  P66 is $150-ish

I can't afford the 1kw transducer now, but the GP1971f has that option. It also has a wireless radar option for future needs. I think the P66 (525STID-PWD) will meet my needs for the depth I am fishing at now.
I have had the GP1971f and the 525STID-PWD in my cart for a few days. I wanted to make sure I was making the correct call. Where did you find the P66 for $150-ish? GPS_Store.png

Things that I like about Simrad...

Navionics "Relief Shading"

Radar that emits low radiation. (Simrad Halo advertises "Safe")

Simrad "Fish reveal"

Compatable Simrad VHF with AIS

Price includes transducer

Reasonable price.

That said, the Furuno unit is clearly (pardon the pun) better than the Simrad. They increased the resolution on the newer models. (2022+)

I had a Humminbird previous to the Simrad. It was really good. High resolution and good quality . Has anybody considered Humminbird. ??

Sorry I wasn't paying attention to the various P66 for whatever manufacture it is wired to. The Furuno version seems a bit more.  As I understand it the transducer is the same, just has a different plug that will plug into the machine.
