Hey, Gang.....Looking at acquiring another boat project. Does anyone out there have experience  plus - minus comments with a 1999 Evinrude E90 FPLEEN?  J.W.

amazing grace

For a two stroke that is just broke in Mark
This will bring up the whole Ficht deal no doubt. If it has a good, known history I would not worry to much Jw.
Eail me the details, I am beside myself wondering what "iron you have in the fire" now!

If the hours are low. If the compression is high.

carbs......Proper linkage adjustment. Syncronization. A squirt of Seafoam....Will work wonders.

Beautiful old gals require careful, gentle maintenance. You are the master of makeovers.

There is a reason 14 year old two strokes are not worth much  :twocents:  I think that motor predates the FICHT debacle, so it is probably a standard old carbed two stroke.  The usual two stroke stuff Croaker mentioned would apply.

If it is in top running condition with no saltwater related issues, it is worth maybe $1200-1500 on its own.  If it is not running or has problems, $500-800 maybe.

I doubt there are enough hours in your day to supervise both of them.  After all, JW has to keep an eye on Chuckie while getting into his own brand of trouble.   :nono:

Chuck is pretty good at tracking down JW.   When they came down to visit JW tried to get away. Chuck promptly interrogated the frightened Indian woman at the Motel desk.

JW then came out of hiding and sheepishly submitted.

thanks for the input, gang. The project doesn't pencil out for me. That said, it means I will not have AG calling me every week to get a progress report....that is worth not taking the project on.

Croaker....re: So Cal meet....while Chucky was chillin in our 37 degree temp motel room, I slipped down the street to West Coast Marine to check out their Parkers.

I like the fichts and they only had issues with the 200 and above ones when they were idled a lot. My boating friend has a 1999 135 HP that has been much more reliable than my Yamaha F100 and he abuses it more than I can bear.
