Title: New Raymarine 3d sonar - Axiom
Post by: Threeweight on February 26, 2017, 10:56:23 AM
I sat in on Dave/Teton's workshop on jigging iron for Tuna! yesterday at the Oregon Saltwater Sportsmans show.  Dave is a Raymarine guy, and he talked a bit about their latest sonar technology.  They have had CHIRP for a few years, and side scan for a few years.  How about a 3d view of what is around the boat?

Check out these videos of a demo of the sonar+software:

Supposed to be coming out this spring.  Depending on how good it does at medium saltwater depths (200' or so), I could see this being very useful to salmon fisherman targeting bait balls, or Tuna! fisherman trying to figure our where the school is relative to their boat after a troll hook up.

I've been eyeballing this as well.    Every year I seem to add another sonar module and transducer to the boat..

Garmin has something similar (Panoptix) but the transducer is spendy (another $1500). That would be the deal breaker for me. I believe this is in addition to your regular one. Portland Marine Electronics was really showing that off yesterday. It would be really cool in the right application though.

Starting price for the 7" Axium with transducer is supposed to be $650-750 with transducer.  Cabelas is taking pre-orders already at $750.

Full blown device.  NMEA 2000, ethernet, etc...

Wow that's as clear as the MRI the dr did on my back last week. Technology is getting scary.

You're right 3WT, that's some next level stuff there!
