Garmin GPSMAP 9x3, with Garmin GMR18HD3 dome installation

I finally decided to make an important safety improvement to my 17ft Seachaser, a Garmin radar system. I bought the Garmin GPSMAP 9x3 with the Garmin GMR 18HD3 dome. I would appreciate input on how to install the radar dome.
From the manual I see that there is a formula to use to understand the height of the pedestal  so that the roof of my pilot top does not impact the signal from the dome. I have a rod holder on the pilot top and wondering what consideration you have to make with regards to the signal from the dome. I have found some videos on my system and also wonder if anybody can tell me where I can find more. Thanks

This is how I did mine. No interference issue. I used a 6° pad.
