Title: Wire Seal ID Help ???
Post by: GregE on May 10, 2013, 03:15:34 PM
I am replacing the transducer cable and need to ID the brand and a source for this style thru hull wire seal.  It has a compression plug around the wire that I think will need to be replaced.

Help appreciated as always.

Blue Sea brand I think... I have seen those at West Marine.  I think they are sometimes referred to as cable clams.

They're not in the West Marine catalog.  There was a 'clam' on the lower thru hull before we raised it and it didn't do well

Here's the new location - 6 " higher

Yepper, thank you.  Anco was the only I could find in the hard catalog.

Now to figure out if I need to replace the rubber plug to reuse it...

I hear that-  I helped a lot of folks with archery equipment decisions and purchases  over the years.

WM has two in stock- heading there soon.

SF will be coming by this evening on jhis way south from NB- wonder if he has time for a re wire project...

Not sure if that style is designed for underwater applicatons,  see them more where wires penetrates decks, bulkheads and hulls above waterline.

Yepit's still in the splash zone-  the previous plug was at the waterline with the 300 Suzuki.  Will add some additional sealer as did the electronics install guy.  The swap is to install the Garmin 740S at eh aft helm ( have another mount and transducer for the small Arima to move the unit )

Somebody could make money marketing a converter plug.  Though most are made by Airmar- Garmin and other use their own style plug- and they change the style....

Greg, If you haven't purchased one yet I have an extra left from the remodel. Let me know if you need it.

$24 @ WM- but it's still in the package.......  Probably spend that much in gas.  I'll call tomorrow- got some wiring question too.

It's the larger model, 1.3*"  I'm planning to leave the old base attached to the hull unless I need to do some additional sealing.
