1987 17' sea ranger with 2014 90hp etec.
-custom tower
-custom enclosure
-custom cover
-bait tank
-bait table
-radar, vhf, gps/ff, stereo

I just got the programming for my computer to check the hours on the motor. I will do that next week. I'm thinking it's less than 80 hours on the motor. Trailer in good condition. Overall, the boat is beautiful In my opinion. This boat was set up to fish Southern California and the local islands.

Only a few things I can think of that are a problem. The Radar spools up and transmits, but probably needs to be recalibrated as it's an analog style furuno. There is a slow leak on the trim seal. It works perfectly fine, But should probably be addressed soon. The deck lights aren't working so they probably have to be rewired. All minor issues.

The motor still has factory grease and is pristine. Registration through 2025.

I can never figure this picture thing out, but I will work on it this week. Please contact me with any questions or if you'd like to See it. Text me for photos.

Asking $20,500. Located in Dana Point, California

This is probably the most well equipped 17 foot sea ranger in Southern California and super clean.

I think etecs scare folks. I've seen many a nice boat sit for what appears to be etec-ist behavior.  :shrug9:

I think the torque is nice, they're reliable as others, and they're not too spendy to run.

Despite widely available service, folks still worry and it seems to impact resale.

Unfortunate.

Thanks everyone!! Hope there is a buyer out there. I have yet to list it on OfferUp, Facebook marketplace or Craigslist. I'd rather not deal with those buyers if possible.

There is definitely a buyer out there, people are starting to look for boats now, it just takes time and I think your price is right there. It took me a couple months to sell my SC16, but it was worth the wait and passing over the low ballers. The motor I think scares the uninformed, so best to comfort those with the knowledge on how these motors are reliable and that parts and mechanics are still out there.

Just an FYI, I sold my boats and an RV all from Facebook marketplace. I found a lot more BS on Offer up and Craigslist, lots of flakers there. Seems like the younger crowd is more on Offer Up that doesn't have the money available and want you to wait or take payments.

The deal I noticed with Facebook marketplace is first you get a lot scam messages within the first 3 days, then slowly they disappear, but the scammers all typically send the same BS message so it's an easy delete, also check out the profile, little to no information is usually a scam. The majority of those that were from FBMP and were interested, showed up and had money in hand, but just shy of a selling price till those right buyers contacted me and I sold.
Only my SC17 sold locally, but my SC16 and my RV both were sold to people in NorCal and I held those with a non-refundable $500 deposit they agreed to via Zelle.

GLWS !!

Also I highly recommend getting a Google Voice number so you don't have to give out your personal phone number for calls or text messages.

Good advice! Thank you!

Sadly, I've gone to the dark side and own a 20' maritime now. Having two teenage boys that now dive with me, I needed the room.
I'm very sentimental about selling this boat as i've killed more fish on this boat than all my other boats combined. I've lived on this boat for weeks at a time chasing fish. Nothing but ice, food, water, gas cans and a dream. It was my Hemingway story. I built this boat with the purpose of killing wsb. Well over 100 white seabass have taken their last breath on this deck. She is special to me and will always represent a time in my life that I was driven, focused and young. Kids, life, work, etc. took over and it is now a memory of my "prime."

Its amazing how these boats can record awesome memories, I totally get being sentimental about selling a special boat, that's how I was with my SC16.
But with a new boat, it starts new memories.
